PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

NEWSLETTER TERM 3 WEEK 8

Dear parents and/or carers

Once again this week I wish to express my thanks and gratitude to all parents who are doing their best with the remote learning situation.

I know our staff are working hard to advance each child’s learning through their learning from home packs, Zoom, SeeSaw and phone support and they really appreciate the partnership with parents and carers who are keeping their children safe and engaged as best as possible.

You would already be aware that the Level 4 restrictions have been extended until midnight on Fri 10th September (Week 9) and we may be progressing to Level 3 face to face learning in Week 10 (but we need to be prepared for an extension).

The constant message from the NSW Department of Education is that “home is the safest place to be and school will not operate as normal but with minimal supervision. If your child is able to be educated from home, please keep them at home.”

Return to school

At this particular point in time we are not any clearer as to when the students will return to face to face learning on site. The NSW Premier has strongly indicated that restrictions may ease but will not be fully lifted for some time and the NSW DoE will be directed by the NSW Health and the Government advice.

Remote Learning Activities

Once again this week students have been participating in not only classroom lessons but they have also been participating in Ms Campbell’s scavenger hunt and Ms Snelson’s PE grid.

Ms Snelson is again running her whole school Kahoot session this Friday at 2.15pm. The Zoom invite for this has been emailed to you and instructions will be placed on SchoolStream. You will also find instruction videos on Facebook. Both of these extra activities have certainly been a hit with families. I hope you are enjoying them!

See the Zoom link for Ms Snelson’s Kahoot on Page 3 of this report.

Thanks to the parents for sending in their photos of their children participating in home learning - keep them coming!

Stage 2 Camp Kookaburra camp—September 2 to 3 CANCELLED

A letter was emailed out last week stating the process for reimbursement of any payments made for this camp. If you have not replied to the email with your request, please do so ASAP so we can commence the refund process.

Book Club is open and home delivery is available!

In response to the current lockdowns, Scholastic have added the temporary option for all parents to have their orders sent directly to their homes. This option will enable you to place and receive orders while your chil-dren are undertaking schooling at home.

When you place your Issue 6 Book Club order you will have an option to select home delivery or school delivery if you have Book Club opened — if not — the default will be home delivery.

The home delivery option will automatically be added to schools in the lockdown area. The home delivery option can be selected by parents at the time of ordering for $7.50.

Your school will still earn 10% in Scholastic Rewards on home delivery orders.

Orders are due in by the 7th of September 2021.

Snacks » Easy Recipes for Kids - Frozen Banana Yoghurt Bites

Ingredients : 1 large ripe banana, 150gm yoghurt of your choice (plain vanilla in photo). A handful of dried banana chips for decoration (optional).

Method: Lay out 12 cupcake cases (or silicon muffin cups) on a small baking tray. This will need to fit into your freezer so check the fit before you start).

Peel the banana and pop it onto a plate. Mash it with a fork until most of the lumps are gone. Small children could use a potato masher if you have one.

Tip the mashed banana into a bowl and then add the yoghurt. Whisk until well combined.

Use a spoon to dollop some yoghurt and banana mixture into the cupcake cases until all the yoghurt is gone. Top with banana chips if you wish. Place the tray into the freezer and leave for a couple of hours until set solid. Once they’re frozen you can bag them up to save for later or eat them straight away. Yum!
