Jobs for local electricians are available at our school now!

The LED Lighting Upgrade Program needs local electricians to install upgraded lighting at our school and potentially others in our lo-cal area. The Department is hiring electricians to do this work right now. If we have electricians in our school community, register for the Local Trades Scheme, which is where jobs are posted. Registration is free. To find out more visit Local Trades Scheme.

Year 6 Graduation—Monday, December 13 at Moama Bowling Club

Last week letters were sent out to parents/carers of students who will be attending the Year 6 Graduation which is being held later this term. Your RSVP form and payment is due back to class teachers (or the office) no later than Wednesday 24 November, 2021,

Please note that as this event is being held off-site all guests will be required to adhere to the COVID protocols (signing in and vaccination proof etc) of the Moama Bowling Club and NSW Health at the time of the event.

The COVID guidelines change quite quickly so to avoid disappointment please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the current requirements as we move closer to the day of the event.

Birthday cupcakes etc

Student birthdays are a very special event each year. They are definitely time to celebrate with your child and their friends. Due to COVID-19 can I please ask that you don’t provide treats for your child to share with their classmates from home.

COVID-19 is throwing up a lot of challenges for us all . The Department of Education guidelines disallow the sharing of food unless they are individually wrapped and served individually.

Transition programs

This week saw the first transition sessions for both Preschool and Kindergarten students. Inside you will find photos taken during the sessions. The next orientation sessions will be held next week on Wednesday 24th November. All dates are on our calendar and website.

On Wednesday we welcomed our 2022 Kindergarten students to their first transition day. The students had a great time listening to stories, completing craft activities, playing cooperative games and undertaking some find motor activities.

The students loved listening to “Where is the Green Sheep?” by Mem Fox. We followed on from this with a discussion about colours and our favourite colours. The students then decorated their sheep in their favourite colour. We had green, orange, blue and even pink sheep!

We also read “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom!” by Bill Martin Jr during the day. After the story we sang the alphabet song and discussed which letter of the alphabet our names started with. The students then completed an activity where they decorated the first letter of their name!

The students had a fantastic day and settled well into the “big school” routine. I am very much looking forward to them coming back to visit next Wednesday 24th November from 9am till 1.00pm.

Banking update from Commonwealth Bank

For 90 years, our School Banking program has helped children learn about money, reinforced the importance of regular

savings and provided structure for parents to support their children to save.

Though the program continues to have strong support from schools, parents and teachers, recent decisions by some state and territory

governments because of a review by the corporate regulator mean we are unable to continue providing

programs in schools, and we have had to make a difficult decision to close our School Banking program for all government and non-

government schools across the country.

Our School Banking program was established in 1931 at a time when having a bank account was not commonplace, and since then we

have helped more than 15 million Australians take their first financial steps. This would not have been possible without the wonderful

support we have received from schools like yours, including all the parents and volunteers, and for this we are deeply grateful. Thank

you.

Even though this is a sad time, School Banking has taught so many young Australians, past and present, the value of money and we be-

lieve this should be celebrated. We have created a place for you to share your stories, fondest memories and lessons learnt through the

program. To share your story and access our financial education resources, please visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking

Even though the CommBank School Banking program will not be returning to your school after this year, you can continue to make de-

posits into your child’s Youthsaver account through online transfers or at any CommBank branch. If you need further information please

phone 132 221 or visit your local CommBank branch.

Beau and Jett in 3/4MJ have been reading to the Kinder students to practice their strategies and develop positive relationships.
