TRINS BROADWAY 2016 The spectacular highlight of the first

term was the Trins Broadway, an

evening of drama showcased for the

public as a ticketed show at Tagore

Theatre on the 20th & 21st of August.

The theatrical extravaganza, with the

theme ‘The Flawed Verdict’ was a

scintillating visual treat of drama,

dance and music, in aid of the RCC

Paediatric Wing. Four plays were

staged by the four houses- Agni,

Jalam, Prithvi & Vayu- and an amount

of 4, 00,000/- was handed over to Dr.

Prashanth C V from the Palliative care

department of the RCC,Trivandrum.

The plays were judged by Mr Deepu

Karunakaran(Movie Director), Mr Hari Varma(Creative Director,Toonz animation) and Mr Raja

Warrier(Theatre Personality). The Jalam house play bagged the award for the best play; Agni was first

runners-up and Prithvi second runners-up.

TRINS Broadway proceeds used to uplift the interiors of the RCC paediatric ward's new OP block

inaugurated by KK Shailaja Teacher, Minister of Health. The Executive Director,Ms Sapnu and the

Principal,Ms Rupa Sen were honoured to be invited to light the lamp and participate in the ceremony.

The third training session for Trins MUN was conducted by Wordz on 27th of September. Each committee

gave updates of their progress .

PYP @ TRINS

Inter-house Basketball

Prelims of the Interhouse Basketball match in the PYP were held on Monday, August 29th with Jalam and Prithvi vying for the finalist position. On Thursday, September 1st, Jalam scored a resounding win over Prithvi. The girls played a friendly basketball match on the same day.

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATIONS

It was so encouraging to see the students of Grade 5 become responsible and independent while

conducting the Teacher's Day celebrations in the PYP on September 5th, 2016. All of them came well-

prepared to handle all the lessons from KG1 to Grade 4 and as an additional treat, organized surprise

games and cultural activities for the teachers. Sincere gratitude to all the parents who joined in the

celebrations.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS by PYP students

Interview with a Minister:

The students of Grade 5 met former minister, Shri Anoop Jacob to understand

the Indian government system and the role of the legislative, judiciary and executive in the Indian government system. They also got to know how bills are passed in the

legislative assembly.

The students of Grades 4 and 5 saw the

movie clipping "He named me Malala" as a

part of their tuning in activity of their

respective unit of inquiries, "Role Models

and their Impact" and "Government

Systems and their impact on the people

living in a country".

Movie show – BFG

In preparation of our upcoming PYP Literary Week, all students of Grades 1 - 5 got a

wonderful opportunity to watch the movie “The BFG” on Monday, 8th August at Aries Plex, as a special screening. The movie is

based on the book by Roald Dahl, the famed children’s author.

Field Trip - Village

The students of Grade 2 visited a village nearby

to observe their lifestyle as a part of their

theme “Communities work together”. They got

a chance to feed cows, eat fresh farm produce

and visited a village school. They also came

back with a list of difference they observed

about the village lifestyle.

Field Trip - Factory In connection to the present unit on Nature's

gifts to mankind, the students of Grade 1 visited a saw mill, coir factory and brick kiln. They saw natural material / resources being

converted to useful items by humans.

Visit to Cheshire Home

Students of Grade 2 visited the Cheshire Home as a part of their present unit of Inquiry on communities. With the visit the students

realized that there are organisations to look after the senior citizens of the society. They

used this opportunity to showcase their concern by donating rice, sugar, tea and other

provisions.

Visit to the park The Early Years visited the Akkulam

Children's Park as part of their theme activity. They explored their senses during a

sensory walk at the park. The students of KG1 found time to bond with each other as

they played and shared their lunch under the trees. Thanks to the entire team of teachers

in the Early Years.

"Show and Tell" focuses on the communication skills of the students of the Early Years. While some of the

students spoke about their favourite toy, others spoke about their pets and their family. This activity helped

the class to bond as a family and provided opportunities to get to know each other better.

Academic Scholarship awarded

The executive director, Ms Sapnu, announced

scholarships for two students based on their

exemplary performance at the May/ June 2016

Cambridge Examination. The students are Manasi

Janardanan, who scored 8A* in IGCSE and George

Koshy Plavelil who scored 3 A’s at the AS level

examination.
