Take the Cross Lakes Experience to Wray Castle, a National Trust property with a difference! Join us on a guided tour of this quirky mock gothic castle, or have fun with the family dressing up and castle building. In the school holidays our rangers will be on hand to help tick off even more of your ‘50 things’ activities or why not have a go at archery? A great family day out whatever the weather.
We all enjoy a little retail therapy, and your Cross Lakes Experience will spoil you for choice. Lively, buzzing Bowness is packed with boutiques, gift shops, cafés and restaurants. Around charming Hawkshead’s car-free centre, you’ll come across welcoming pubs, specialist shops selling all things Lakeland and the Beatrix Potter Gallery displaying her wonderful watercolours.
At colourful Coniston, surrounded by splendid walks, you can board the launch across the lake to Brantwood; John Ruskin’s magnificent home with its spectacular gardens, craft shop and Jumping Jenny’s café overlooking the lake and Coniston Old Man.
Take your bike or boots to make the most of yourCross Lakes Experience. Remember, you can begin your journey from either Bowness, Hawkshead, Coniston, Grizedale, Wray Castle or Satterthwaite.
Give the drivera day off!
Enjoy a grandday out!
