Youth Group News
On Wednesday the group was busy with prac-ticing for the skits to be shown at the dinner on Thursday. Dinner was great with fried chicken, tater tots and mac and cheese topped off with a roll and delicious dessert made by Janie Craun. Thursday night we held the parents dinner. Thank you to Carl and Connie Wood, Betty Hall, Brenda Driver and Cheryl Buttrey for their food expertise. Dennis Daniel & Dennis Don-aldson for working with the skits. Corey Albert for narration. The kids helped cook, serve and do the skit. Brendan Felts put together a fan-tastic video of several activities and interviews with the kids. Also a thank you to Keri Don-aldson for her excellent coffee making skills. We had a great time and a very good turn out.

From the Couch Importance of Marriage. When God made Adam & Eve, the plan of redemption was already in place. Eph. 5:31-32 (ESV) “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.”
The relationship that God intended to be in marriage is the kind of relationship He intends to have with us. Marriage illustrates salvation. Thus, anything that weakens the marriage bond will also damage one’s relationship with God.
This past weekend, seventeen couples spent time in the Smoky Mountains at Walden’s Lodge. Dwayne & Leslie Daniel did a great job planning the retreat. They made housing arrangements, selected the theme, chose speakers for classes, and planned the schedule. They are already planning next year’s retreat. Couples are wise if they “nourish and cherish” their marital relationship (Eph. 5:29). The retreat can be one way of accomplishing that.
Power of Prayer. James 5:16 (ERV) says, “Anyone who lives
the way God wants can pray, and great things will happen.” The Bi-ble shows that prayer caused a drought & then caused the rain to resume (James 5:17-18). Jesus taught that prayer could impact the travel of an invading army by slowing down or speeding up their pro-gress (Matt. 24:20).
Thursday, May 3 is the National Day of Prayer. Thousands of Americans will stop what they are doing to pray for our great nation. Christians are people of unceasing prayer every day of the week (1 Thess. 5:17). “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. (2 Chron. 16:9, KJV).
To All Jail Volunteers: A training ses-
sion will be held on Thursday night, May 3, from 5—9 pm. at the
jail. This is required training to be able to continue our work at the
county jail. Also new pictures will be made for ID badges.
