Listen to God!

Mark 6:1-13 (especially 1-6)

Vicki was chosen for the school swimming team but her friend Taylor missed out. Suddenly Taylor didn’t want to play with Vicki even though they had been friends for years. Vicki felt hurt and sad. “Taylor thinks I’m being proud, but I think she is jealous,” Vicki said.

“Jesus knows what that feels like,” Lucy told her. “People in his own town, even his family, were upset by his abilities and refused to believe him.”

The people thought, “He’s just a carpenter. How could he be a prophet, speaking words from God? Who does he think he is?” And because they refused to believe Jesus, they missed out on what he could do for them. The important thing is who do we think Jesus is? Some people think he was a good man. Some only know him as a swear word. Who do you think Jesus is?

Who does he think he is?

How did the disciple Peter answer when Jesus said to him, “who do you say I am?” Look up Matthew 16:16 and complete what Peter said.

Prophet: someone who speaks God’swords, speaks as God’s representative.

Messiah or Christ: a person anointed (chosen) and promised to be a king who would bring salvation to his people. Jesus was that person.

Jesus is the Way (to God), the truth and

the life.
