Name: Zoe Leahy (Twin 2) Team or Individual (including legs in team): Team- Swim leg Why you entered Hell of the West: To keep up the tradition of competing in the swim every year Training regime: Swim training 7:30-9:30am Mon-Fri, 5-7km run four times a week Thing you are most looking forward to at HOTW: Racing against some of the best athletes in Australia Thing you are least looking forward to at HOTW: The vicious start Motto (in regards to training / competing): If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail How do you plan to spoil yourself after HOTW?: Not going to school the next day Name: Rob Anderson Team or Individual (including legs in team): Team - Run Why you entered Hell of the West: To get back into distance running. It looks like a great event! Training regime: 1 cross training session & 3 runs per week. Thing you are most looking forward to at HOTW: The finish line. Thing you are least looking forward to at HOTW: The blisters & the heat. Motto (in regards to training / competing): Train hard, fight easy. How do you plan to spoil yourself after HOTW?: Looking forward to a few ales at the Vic afterwards. Name: Donald Thorn Team or Individual (including legs in team): Individual Why you entered Hell of the West: Because there wasn’t a hell of the wester at Westmar. And I saw my mates doing it and thought if they can do it anyone can. Training regime: 100 tumble turns in a dam twice a week followed closely by emptying 5kg of silt from my baywatch red speedo’s at the end. Caused by scraping my but on the bottom of the dam each turn. Cycling with the westmar cycling club every Saturday on my own. Running along the esplanade at Arden Downs. I run past the dam numerous times and hallucinate I’m running on a coastal esplanade. Thing you are most looking forward to at HOTW: The comradery, the friendships made and sence of overwhelming achievement. No not really just THE END. Thing you are least looking forward to at HOTW: After starting the race feeling like Chris McCormack. Then finishing looking like Cliffy Young. Motto (in regards to training / competing): Make sure I look like I know what I’m doing. How do you plan to spoil yourself after HOTW?: Ditch the soy skim lattes and tofu and kale tapioca wraps for a yard glass of beer and triple fried chips with gravy and garlic butter. Name: Anna Dawson Team or Individual (including legs in team): Nat Woods – swim, Dave Smith – cycle, Anna Dawson – run. Why you entered Hell of the West: Because I love running so much and my time working on the HOTW really gave me an insight into the life of triathletes which inspired me to get involved. Training regime: I have a strict training and nutrition program which I follow to optimize my performance. My husband is also a top athlete so I always listen carefully to his advice and adopt it fully. Thing you are most looking forward to at HOTW: Finishing Thing you are least looking forward to at HOTW: Running Motto (in regards to training / competing): Im only doing this to shut Jeremy and Richo up. And its going to be worth it. How do you plan to spoil yourself after HOTW?: By not getting out of bed early to go running for the rest of the year! Any other useful (useless) information: I really love athletes in lycra! Torso must be covered during the event Presentations Presentations will be held at the completion of the final race The E & E Waste Hell of the West is on this Sunday, February 2. The swim leg starts at 5am in the MacIntyre River, with cyclists and runners on the course til around 12 noon. Come down and support your favourite athlete, and cheer on the visitors to our town at the same time. Make the most of the stalls in the Town Park, with everything from coffee to sweets, burgers, bikes bits and clothing on sale. Over 600 athletes to compete in this year’s event, making it one of the leading events in this year’s calendar.
