What is postgraduate study?Postgraduate study is for those who have completed an undergraduate qualification such as a bachelor degree and are continuing their studies by completing an award such as a graduate certificate, graduate diploma, master’s or PhD.

How to applyApplications to University of Adelaide postgraduate programs are made online via SATAC: www.satac.edu.au

International students should refer to: http://international.adelaide.edu.au/admissions/how-to-apply

In some cases, application can only be made direct to the Faculty. Please see Degree Finder for your program of interest application instructions.

HELP loansThere are two types of fee structures within the postgraduate coursework list of programs; Commonwealth-supported place and Australian full-fee place.

For each structure the government has a HELP loan to support it. If you are enrolling in a postgraduate program under a Commonwealth-supported place you may be eligible for the HECS-HELP loan.

If you are enrolling in a postgraduate program under an Australian full-fee place you may be eligible for the FEE-HELP loan.

Eligibility criteria and further information is available at: www.studyassist.gov.au

ScholarshipsThe University of Adelaide has a range of scholarships available to students from a variety of backgrounds and academic levels. Comprehensive information about scholarships, and how to apply, can be obtained by visiting the scholarships website: www.adelaide.edu.au/scholarships

Student services and amenities feeStudents are charged an annual student services and amenities fee (SSAF) to assist with the funding of student services and amenities at the University.

In 2021, the SSAF amount for full-time students is $313, and for part-time students it was $235. Fees may increase in 2022.

Separate to the HECS-Help or FEE-Help loans, eligible students may also defer this fee to an SA-HELP loan. For further information about the SSAF and SA-HELP visit: www.adelaide.edu.au/student/finance and select ‘Other Fees and Charges’.

Additional costs Students may be required to pay for specialist equipment, reading materials, etc. Students are advised not to purchase any equipment until they receive their faculty/school handbook, available during orientation.

For more information on other program-related fees and charges, visit www.adelaide.edu.au/student/finance and select ‘Other Fees and Charges’.

Study plansIn most cases students can study between one to four courses at a time. However, some programs will require you to study full-time, with no part-time option available. Please see Degree Finder for these details.

Courses are offered either weekly on campus, online, blended or intensively. When enrolling you will be able to review the format in which your course will be taught and this will allow you to make decisions around the time commitment required each study period.

Study periods may be semester, trimester or term based. You can review this on Degree Finder under the ‘Entry Requirements’ tab for intake.
