Why We Run The BridgeA Personal Note

Michael and Heidi Brunswick have been runningin the Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge Presented byAmeriHealth New Jersey for the past four years —as longas their sevcn-ycar-old son, Ryan, has been a student at LarcSchool. The Brunswicks are avid sportspeople, but their interestin Lares annual Run the Bridge grew not from their love ofsports, but from their love for Ryan.

"We choose to be active in Larc events because the teachers

and therapists at Larc give so much time and effort to ourfamily, we feel that we need to do the same for the school," saidMr. Brunswick.

The Brunswicks live in Mount Laurel with Ryan and theirtwo-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Madison. Sadly, Ryan'stwin sister, Samantha, passed away at one year of age due tocomplications of prematurity.

We choose to be active in Larc events

because the teachers and therapists at-Larc give so much time and effort toour family, we feel that we need to dothe same for the school.

"The people at the Larc are fun to be around, so it isn't a choreto help at events with the faculty and staff," said Mr. Brunswick."It's tike a party." For the past three years, he and his wife havebeen active in recruiting volunteers to help set up for the run onthe Saturday before the event.

Mike Brunswick, who is Dean of

Students, Head of the PhysicalEducation (PE)/Health Department, andHead Varsity Girls Basketball Coach atMoorestown Friends School, has tappedsoccer and cross-country athletesfrom Moorestown Friends. His wife, Heidi, who teaches PE andHealth at Cherry Hill High School West and coaches field hockeyand lacrosse, has enlisted athletes from those disciplines atCherry Hill High School West.

"We fell in love with the people at Larc the first time we met,"said Mr. Brunswick. "They were wonderful...and still are! Wedon't think Ryan would have gotten as far as he has without thesupport of the staff at Larc."

"Ryan is currently in a wheelchair, but every week he getsfurther and further with his steps and standing," said Mrs.Brunswick. "Mike and I set a goal for ourselves —we willcontinue to run the bridge until the day Ryan is standing andwaiting for us at the finish line."
