Welcome back, Wildcat fans! We are excited to kick off the new school year with a full athletic calendar. Our student

athletes have worked hard in preparation for the new season. Cross Country is ready for their first meet in Union

Grove on Saturday, Volleyball is in full swing with the varsity team competing in the Groesbeck tournament today and

tomorrow, Team Tennis hosted their first home match of the season on Thursday, and varsity football will kick off

their season on September 1st versus Mabank. We encourage our fans to come out and support all our fall sports.

As a reminder, please don’t forget Meet the Wildcats, Monday, August 28th, 7:00 p.m., Wildcat Gym! We look forward

to introducing our football, cross country, fall tennis, and volleyball teams, as well as student trainers, band

members, cheerleaders and Kik Kats. Representatives from the PISD Athletic Booster Club will be available, also, to

answer any questions you may have about memberships and volunteer opportunities.

In Volleyball action:

The Ladycats played Pittsburg at home last Friday night in their first home game of the season. JVB lost a tough

match in 3 ( 25-13, 18-25, 11-15). JVA defeated Pittsburg (25-22, 22-25, 25-23)! The Varsity girls lost in three (20-25, 17-

25, 17-25). Faith Newman picked up 22 digs. McKenzie King had 22 assists. Destiny Mathews had 10 kills while Shayla

Arthur added 8 kills. The Ladycats will resume play in the Eustace tournament playing at 9 am vs. Mabank in the

Championship bracket.

The Ladycats hosted Alba-Golden Tuesday night. The JVB team fought hard in a 3 game match, but came up short (25

-20, 21-25, 23-25). Our JVA team won in exciting fashion coming from behind in the 3rd set to win (15-25, 25-16, 25-20)!

Our varsity girls showed heart and fight in their 5 game match with Alba-Golden. We came up short, but very proud of

the effort the girls gave (26-24, 15-25, 25-23, 22-25, 12-15). We will be playing in the Groesbeck tournament this Friday

and Saturday!

Cross Country:

Congratulations to the JV Boys Cross Country Team for winning their District Meet at Fairfield

yesterday in a dominating fashion. They had 8 runners place in the top 10 places.

The JV team won all 8 meets they participated in this year and were led yesterday by

the following runners: 1st Place Grant Attaway, 2nd Place Jonathon Sanchez, 3rd Place Javier

Leonor, 5th Place Brian Armenta, 6th Place Michael Chaidez, 7th Place Lizardo Lemus,

9th Place Jonathan Sandres, 10th Place Easton Musil

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Cross Country Team for winning their 12th District Championship in a row! The Varsity Boys were very dominating yesterday by placing all 7 runners in the top 8 places. Luis Rangel was your district champion with a time of 16:19. Other runners who placed in the meet were: 3rd Place Michael Guzman16:38, 4th Place Cristian Guzman 17:05, 5th Place Garrett Bowden 17:14, 6th Place Daniel Sanchez 17:20, 7th Place Cristian Castillo 17:26, 8th Place Francis Sis 17:33

The Palestine High School Girls Cross Country Teams competed yesterday at the District Meet in Fairfield. It was a very competitive and exhilarating meet. Our girls finished in 3rd place as a team and earned a spot for the Regional meet for the 12th year in a row!! We were beat by Madisonville by two points and tied in 3rd place with Mexia but earned 3rd place with the tie breaker! Leading the Ladycats was Isabel A. Garcia in 7th place, followed by Jennifer Aguilar, Yarizeth Garcia, Iris Chavez, Ashley Davis, Laura Cabrera and Izabel Simien. The JV Girls’ Cross Country Team earned 2nd place as a team they were led by Yasmine Cuevas, who earned 2nd place, Mayra Gonzales, Paola Rangel, and Mia Ramirez! Football: The Palestine Varsity Football Team defeated district opponent, Center, last Friday night by a score of 41-21.The mighty

Wildcats played well in all three phases of the game, and physically out matched the Roughriders. The offense compiled 481

yards and 41 points behind outstanding performances by Junior Tyler Gray and Sophomore Jeremiah Davis. Gray had 141 yards

rushing on 14 carries while throwing one touchdown pass to TJ Dever. Jeremiah Davis had 200 yards rushing on

17 carries and three TDs behind a solid performance by the offensive line. The Wildcat defense stymied Center's offense all night

long. The defense was led by Junior Josh Williams who had an amazing game. Josh had 13 total tackles, two for a loss, one

fumble recovery, two pass break ups, 1 interception, and he blocked an extra point attempt. Seniors, Roderick Deyon and

Waylon Nickerson also performed extremely well, with Deyon have 10 tackles and Nickerson having 8 tackles on the night.

The Wildcats are looking forward to a big homecoming game tonight (October 13) against the Bullard Panthers, and taking the

next step towards a play-off berth.

The Wildcats Junior Varsity Football Team played an exciting game Thursday night defeating the Bullard Panthers 30 to 28.

We were very proud of the way the athletes competed. We had several athletes play well on offense.

Christian Hutchinson threw a touchdown pass to Marquis Thompson. Christian Hutchinson also ran one touchdown. Marquis

Thompson and Michael Morrow each ran in a two point conversion. Outstanding Defensive player was Zaquoriance Johnson with

a fumble recovery and score. Outstanding Special Teams player was Tre Calhoun who scored on a Kickoff return. Volleyball: The Ladycat Volleyball Team will play Athens this afternoon. Games start at 4:30.

Tennis: Palestine Team Tennis will face Taylor in the area round of the Class 4A-Region III

playoffs on Thursday, October 19, 2 pm at Rudder High School in Bryan.

Cup Pyramid Engineering Challenge.

Students had to work together to build the pyramid in the

shortest amount of time without touching the cups with their

hands, only using the tool provided made from a rubber band

and string.
