K-6: NURTURING, EXCITING AND MOTIVATING CHILDREN TO LEARN
Wildcat
Weekly October 24, 2019
WWA will be holding this year’s school science fair on Wednesday December 4th and all students grades Kinder-8th have been invited to participate! All projects will be based around two of our Core Knowledge Themes: Medicine and Health Sciences (life cycle of plants and animals, and the human body, including the systems: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, skeletal, muscular, and nervous) and Earth and Space Sciences (astronomy, geology, weather and atmosphere, erosion, taking care of the earth, water cycle, meteorology, plate tectonics, oceans, and history of the Earth). Kindergarten students are welcome to show what they know, though they will not be judged in the fair. If your child is interested in participating, please fill out the student registration form online. This can be accessed from the main WWA page, or if you CLICK HERE. Once you register, you will get a pacing timeline, specific guidelines, and further information to get your child started. If you have any questions, contact [email protected].
When driving through the parking lot, please drive slowly, and refrain from cell phone usage. At pick up and drop off, there are often children, parents, and staff members moving between cars within the parking lot. Further, we ask that you please use the crosswalk during pick up and drop off so that we can keep the flow of traffic moving. Thank you for helping us to keep everyone safe!

WWA’s Annual
Science Fair Dear Parents/Guardians, As you know, science, technology, and engineering are basic skills expected by many employers. As Twenty First Century citizens, our students will also have to make some of the toughest decisions of any generation, based on their understanding of emerging science and technology. Science fairs involve students in the practices of science and engineering, requiring them to apply those skills to a topic of interest to them. DOING SCIENCE IS THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING SCIENCE!! Therefore, WWA will be holding this year’s school science fair on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019 and all students grades Kinder-8th have been invited to participate! Kindergarten students are welcome to show what they know, though they will not be judged in the fair. Judging will take place for grades 1st-8th. All classes Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade will be touring the fair!
Hands-on scientific investigation and invention are the focus at our particular fair. All projects will be based around our Core Knowledge Themes: Medicine and Health Sciences (life cycle of plants and animals, and the human body, including the systems: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, skeletal, muscular, and nervous) or Earth and Space Sciences (astronomy, geology, weather and atmosphere, erosion, taking care of the earth, water cycle, meteorology, plate tectonics, oceans, and history of the Earth). Kinder through 3rd grade students will be able to create a model or demonstration within these themes, while 4th through 8th grade students will be following the scientific method to create an experiment related to these same themes. Students will be charged with creating a display that illustrates their knowledge of the topic they choose, including a description of their project (Kinder-3rd) or an illustration of the scientific method as it relates to their experiment (4th-8th). I encourage you to visit the WWA Science Fair Website for more details. If your child is interested in participating, please fill out the student registration form online. This can be viewed from the link on the WWA Home Page, through the link above, or you can pick up a form from the office. Those who have submitted their registration will receive a packet with further information. This will include a pacing timeline, specific guidelines, and further information to get your child started. Feel free to begin your work as soon as you receive the packet! Remember, you can also find more information about the Science Fair on the WWA website! Don’t hesitate to call or email with any questions and thank you very much in advance for your support!
