WIMAO – RECYCLING TECHNOLOGIES
REMAT – a unique patented technology
for recycling mixed plastic waste and
other hard-to-recycle waste streams
WIMAO
Established: 2016
Founders: Ville Immonen (CEO), Timo Kärki
(Prof.), JuhaVaris (Prof.)
Vision: A waste-free world and Europe at the
forefront circular economy.
Mission: Flip the ’take, make, dispose’ model
on its head.
Team: Extensive/ interdisciplinary expertise,
vast experience in recycling, fiber composites,
as well as in production and commerce
THE PROBLEM
1 in 4
items in the recycling
container is not recyclable
260 Million TonPlastic waste per year
16%Recycled
25%Incinerated
40%Landfills
19%Leaks
No available
technology to
recycle mixed
wasteTechnical problem: 95% of plastics are only used once. For traditional recycling systems to effectively process them, each plastic grade needs to be
sorted and separated into individual streams.
Social problem: For decades, nearly half of Europe’s plastic waste has been shipped to China, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia to be recycled.
But the truth is, that most of this waste has ended up in landfills, incinerators, or even worse, in our oceans and rivers.
Now these countries have stopped taking our waste and we lack the capacity to deal with it.
OUR SOLUTION & VALUE PROPOSTION
REMAT technology• Recycle un-recyclable waste
• Mixed materials & content variations
• Plug and play operation
• Scalable and automated
• Payback in 1-2 years
REMAT products• 100% recycled material
• 50% cheaper
• Same performance & durability
• Limitless applicationsc c
REMAT uses a series of thermal and mechanical operations, to turn mixed plastic waste into high value, ecological composite products.
In addition to plastics, it is possible to recycle basically any fiber material, such as wood, paper, carton, textile, insulation wool, glass fibre…
The technology allows content variations and impurities in the material used, which makes sorting and pre-treatment easier.
It also allows to recycle materials that are hard or impossible to recycle by other technologies.
For every ton of waste processed, it is possible to produce a ton of composite products AND reduce 1-4 tons of CO2 emissions.
The products have similar quality and properties to competing ones, but they are ecological and can be manufactured and sold for a much cheaper price.
HUGE MARKET OPPORTUNITY
DEMAND
• 1.1 billion tons of composites produced annually
in Europe.
DRIVERS
Sustainable alternative:
• 100% recycled
• 50% cheaper
Same properties:
• Durability
• Weight loading
• Heat and moisture resistance
DEMAND
1.100 million tons by 2040

There is now 2.9 million tons of plastic waste in Europe,
that has nowhere to go. EC has calculated that 300 new
recycling facilities are needed in the next 5 years alone.
REMAT technology allows to create products with high
demand, that are not only sustainable, but price
competitive.
Pallets alone, for example, represent a 50 billion euro
global market.
