Head Teacher's Note
Summer is here at last! We're into term 4 and expecting lots of
glorious sunshine. I hope you are making the most of the little
glimpses we are getting every now and then :-)
As you will see from this newsletter, lots has been happening in
Windyknowe and this continues throughout this term. Of course
the big theme is transition with our P7's leaving us, our new
P1's joining us and classes moving on to new stages. We have lots of sports activities to look
forward to and many opportunities to take our learning outside. Please make sure children
continue to wear their jackets.
I hope many of you will be able to join us for sports days and remember if you have some
spare time, we are always looking for extra volunteers to help with the procession float.

Annual Pupil Progress Reports
‘The annual report to parents has been revised and improved in line with national
guidance. Comments reflect “how much” and “how well” your child has achieved
within Curriculum for Excellence levels. It tells you about your child’s progress, next
steps in learning and about specific support needs and ways you can help support
learning.’ Reports will be sent out to you in June.
Pupil Reports will come out to parents on Friday 12 June 2015

please contact the school office.

PE
We will be taking children outside to do
PE regularly this term. Please ensure you
send your child with appropriate PE kit
every day.
Autism Awareness Day
The total raised was £230.65 Thank you to everyone who
participated and donated on the day.
An Inspiration To Us All
A former pupil of Windyknowe PS, Jamie MacDonald is now the Falkirk goalkeeper and is
about to achieve something quite outstanding. Assuming Jamie is chosen for the cup final,
it will be his 3rd Scottish Cup Final for 3 different teams: Queen of
the South, Hearts and Falkirk. I don’t think there can be many
players to have done that. How wonderful it is that we can share
with you Jamie’s achievements to date. We wish Jamie and the
team every success in the cup final. It would be great if he could
pop back to Windyknowe sometime to share how he got to
where he is.
“Do what you can,
with what you have,
where you are.”

“It’s not what happens to you, but how
you react to it that matters.” – Epictetus
Lowport and Lendrick Muir Meetings
We have arranged for members of staff from Lowport and Lendrick Muir to visit and explain to
parents and pupils exactly what is involved and included in the cost of the residential trips
planned for P5 and P7’s next year. Date for this will be confirmed nearer the time.
Residential Trip Dates 2016

Lost Property
Our lost property is full and over flowing again. If your child has come home without a jacket, sweatshirt, polo shirt or any other item of clothing please ask them to check in lost property. It is really important that all items are labelled and named so that they can be traced to the owner quickly and easily.
We cannot take responsibility for lost items, I’m afraid.
