WASHINGTON - Four major Silicon Valley companies Apple, Google, Adobe and Intel have agreed
to settle a lawsuit accusing them of colluding to hold down salaries through an understanding not to
hire workers for other companies, just weeks before the high profile trial was set to begin.
Roughly 60,000 workers were part of the class action suit for which the trial had been scheduled to
begin at the end of May.
The settlement, disclosed in a court filing on Thursday, did not reveal the terms, but the plaintiffs had
argued that the lost wages added up to $3 billion.
The case began in May 2011, when a former Lucasfilm software engineer filed suit against the four
tech companies as well as Lucasfilm, Pixar and Intuit alleging they had violated federal antitrust
laws by conspiring for several years to suppress the pay of employees with their non-poaching
agreement.
