Virginia Flood Awarness Week

The Town participates in the National Flood Insurance Program, which means all residents are eligible for flood insurance, even if they do not live in a high-risk flood zone. Without flood insurance, most people have to pay out of pocket or take out

loans to repair damage. The VA Flood Risk Info System (VFRIS) is an online tool that can be used

to learn about the risk of flooding in homes, businesses or community.

The tool, provided by the VA Department of Conservation and

Recreation, is available at www.dcr.virginia.gov/vfris

On November 12, 2019, the Town Council hosted a Legislative Reception for our local elected officials. Dumfries Councilmembers and staff were joined by members of the Prince William County School Board, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors as well as members of the Virginia House of Delegates. The Mayor welcomed guests and provided an overview of the Town priorities.

ELECTION DAY HOLIDAYEmployees of the Town of Dumfries enjoyed an additional holiday on November 5, 2019, Election Day. In a measure patroned by Councilwoman Cydny Neville, the Dumfries Town Council approved the elimination of Lee-Jackson Day and the official recognition of Election Day as holiday. This move allows residents to and employees of the Town greater access to voting. A similar measure is being considered by the Virginia General Assembly this session.
