Patti Pastor….One of Three Finalists for Coconino County Teacher of the Year… Mrs. Patti Pastor, the first Career and Technical Education Instructor to be a semi-finalist was honored on May 1st, 2014. Her nomination brought attention to all of the Science, Math and Technology integration that occurs through Career and Technical Education.

Dual Enrollment Can Save Families Money and Help Students Transition to

College While Still in High School… Remember to ask about dual enrollment options at FHS. Flagstaff High School offers college level coursework in Career and Technical Education, English, Math, Navajo and Dine’ Studies, Science

and Social Studies.

2014-2015 Career and Technical Education at Flagstaff High School. The FHS Fashion Design

and Merchandizing instructor, Diana Schweitzer will be missed as she has chosen to retire. Ms. Patricia Cook will prepare FHS students for professional certifications in Early Childhood Education. Mr. Young’s business courses will emphasize entrepreneurship and innovation. Mrs. Pastor has added Competitive Culinary and Mr. Elnounw will get his Autos program dual enrolled. Students can learn the artestry of photography in

Digital Photography with Mr. Cornett. Welding certifications are possible in Mr. Rust’s Welding courses and those interested in medicine will get a head start with Mr. Lyle’s –Medical courses.

Chief Manuelito Candidate from FHS Marcus Todechine, a CAVIAT Law Enforcement Program Completer will be attending ASU next fall so that he can complete his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and return to the Navajo Reservation as a Law Enforcement Officer. If awarded the prestigious Chief Manuelito Scholarship, Marcus will receive $5,000 per year for college expenses.

FHS CAVIAT Senior, Georganna Foos, Named Top Business Student at CCC… It is rare for a high school student to receive such distinction; however, Mr. Paul Holbrook, the Dean for

the Business College nominated Georganna to receive this honor because she truly excels. Georganna will matriculate to Northern Arizona University in the fall to complete her Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
