Find Success with Garden Pollinators or Companion Planting | Jean Vose | 1 session | Live ClassJean Vose is a Master Gardener, certified horticulturalist, backyard beekeeper and nature instructor. Jean sees that COVID has sparked a deeper interest in gardening throughout the Midcoast; “people have always gardened in hard times, but food is only part of that story. They are motivated by the desire for beauty, a creative or physical outlet, contact with nature, or tangible results.” For many, the most notable interactions for the summer of ‘20 was kibitzing with neighbors as they all work their gardens. The May 13th class features Maine’s Local Pollinators and the plants that feed them. Pollinators are critical to our food supply, but many of our pollinators are in decline due, in part, to habitat issues. Most of our landscapes have little to offer pollinators in the way of food, but it’s possible to provide a pollinator habitat in your yard. Greater garden yield is the benefit. The May 20th class features Companion Planting to maximize garden efforts (plant peppers next to basil, marigolds next to ..?). Q&A is encouraged and take-home handouts are provided in these live classes.Garden Pollinators Runs: 5/13 Th 5:30-8:00 p.m. Fee: $38Companion Planting Runs: 5/20 Th 5:30-8:00 p.m. Fee: $38
