September 8 - Tallinn, EstoniaTallinn balances medieval tranquility with modern urban life. Built on a cliff top, the Upper Town providesa superb vantage point from which to view the red-gabled roofsand spires of the Lower Town. There you will see the exteriors ofthe apothecary, which opened in 1422, the Great Guild House,Holy Ghost Church, and the 15th century Gothic Town Hall. Strollthe old streets, do some shopping or grab lunch at your leisureafter your tour.

September 9 - St. Petersburg, Russia (Part I)Visit Peter and Paul Fortress, an extensive walled complex thatincludes the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, now part of theSt. Petersburg History Museum. While exploring Saint Peter’s,look for the tombstones of the Imperial family, including TsarNicholas II and his relatives. Continue on to the Cruiser Aurora,which signaled the beginning of the Bolshevik Revolution.Proceed past the Field of Mars and the Marble Palace beforearriving at the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood. Thisexquisitely decorated church was built on the spot whereAlexander II was assassinated in 1881. Drive along NevskyProspect, St. Petersburg’s main thoroughfare, past the KazanCathedral and return to your ship.

September 10 - St. Petersburg, Russia (Part II)St. Petersburg is so delightful; it merits another full day excursion.Visit Peterhof—Peter the Great’s opulent answer to Versailles—withits palaces, gardens and hundreds of intricate fountains. The lavishPalace has changed considerably over the decades with some ofthe rooms in Rastrelli’s flamboyant baroque style, while otherswere later reworked by Velton. Enjoy a classic Russian lunch in anelegant restaurant. Enjoy a guided tour of the State HermitageMuseum, originally the palace of Catherine the Great. The museumboasts more than 2.7 million exhibits of art and artifacts fromancient Egypt to early 20th-century Europe.

September 11 - Helsinki, FinlandYour scenic driving tour follows a coastal road past Embassy Parkand an open-air market to expansive Senate Square with itselegant Lutheran Cathedral. Continue down the chic boulevardEsplanadi lined with designer shops. Mannerheim Streetlandmarks include the Parliament building, National Museum, andFinlandia Hall. Further along are the 1952 Olympic stadium, thenew Opera House on Töölönlahti Bay, and the highly unusualTemppeliaukio Rock Church, an underground house of worshipblasted out of native granite and capped with a copper dome.Today’s final stop is Sibelius Park’s monument to the great Finnishcomposer, Jean Sibelius, best known for the hymn tune Finlandia(Be Still My Soul). Return to the ship or remain downtown to exploreon your own.

September 12 - Stockholm, Sweden (On Own)Stockholm is not only the capital but the heart of Sweden. Explorethe City on your own or book a shore excursion through the cruiseline. Stockholm’s old town—Gamla Stan—is on its own island at theharbor’s edge. At the Royal Palace, watch the Changing of theGuard or step inside to see the grand ballroom, the glisteningtreasury and the stunning Hall of State that contains the king’ssilver throne. In the City Hall, vibrant mosaic murals decorate theGolden Hall. The opulent Blue Hall contains nothing blue exceptthe glimpses of sky seen through its high windows.
