Loy Krathong is the practice of showing gratitude to the river goddess or “Mae Kong Kha” by floating a beautifully decorated banana leaf boat or “Krathong” on the river. When the night falls, Loy Krathong celebrants flock to the rivers to celebrate this festival. Under the full moon might of the 12th lunar month, the annual ceremony paints the peaceful rivers with the mesmerising scene of Krathongs of various colours, their glow adding to the happiness and serenity of the moment.
