Art: (Choose 1.)

• Draw a picture of the ingredients you would put in an “enemy pie”. Be sure to color your drawing and label the items. Take a picture and send to your teacher.

• Go into your yard and take some pictures of some things you would use in your “enemy pie.” If you have a computer, put them in a picture collage or slideshow presentation and send to your teacher.

• With your parent’s permission, pick a few “ingredients” from the yard and make an art collage. Check out these ideas at: https://buggyandbuddy.com/creating-natural-materials-discover-explore/ Send your teacher a picture of your collage.

• Draw a picture of something you like to do with friends. Color it and write one sentence to describe your picture. For example: When I play with friends, I like to ____________.

Language Arts: (Choose 1.)

• Write a recipe for your “enemy pie”. Be sure to list the ingredients and directions. For an example of what goes into a recipe, go to this link: http://www.eatsamazing.co.uk/recipes-tutorials/cooking-children-frozen-fruity-yoghurt-bites

• Write 3 sentences about things you like to do with friends. Remember to use your best handwriting. Start sentences with capital letters and use the correct ending punctuation. Highlight the subject (noun) of each sentence with a yellow crayon or marker. Circle the predicate (verb) with an orange crayon or marker.

• Write a paragraph about how you might turn and enemy into a friend.

• Write a letter to a friend. Ask your mother to help you find the address and mail the letter. It would be fun to include a drawing also.

Reading: (Choose 1.)

• Read the book to a sibling and/or a parent. Tell them what you liked best about the story. Ask them what they liked best. Discuss what could have happened if Jeremy Ross had found the note in the treehouse before the main character took it off the wall.

• Take an A.R. test after you’ve listened to and read the book:

• After listening to or reading Enemy Pie, answer at least 3 of the questions below on notebook paper. Answer in complete sentences. Be sure to use your best handwriting, capitalization, usage, punctuation, and spelling. Send a picture of your work to your teacher (or post in your Google Classroom.)

1. Why does the main character dislike Jeremy Ross? 2. Can you make a connection to the main character or Jeremy Ross? 3. Why do you think the dad doesn’t tell his son what’s in the pie? 4. Why do you think the enemy pie smells so good? 5. Why does Jeremy feel confused when the main character asks him to play? 6. Why doesn’t the main character want Jeremy to eat the pie? 7. What do you think will happen to Jeremy when he eats the pie? 8. Was there anything nasty about the pie? 9. Why do you think the dad called it enemy pie?

Math: (Choose 1.)

• Bake a cake for one by using the recipe below. Make sure you ask for permission and get an

adult to help you. Answer these 2 questions while the cake cools.

1. The cake recipe below has the following ingredients measured in tablespoons: 4

tablespoons flour, 4 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, 3 tablespoons milk, and 3

tablespoons oil. How many tablespoons is that in all?

2. If one tablespoon = 3 teaspoons, how many teaspoons in 4 tablespoons? In 3

tablespoons? In 2 tablespoons?

Mini Chocolate Cake in the Microwave

Ingredients

• 4 Tablespoons all-purpose flour

• 4 Tablespoons sugar

• 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

• 1 egg

• 3 Tablespoons milk

• 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil

• 1 Tablespoon chocolate chips Directions Spray a microwave safe large coffee mug with cooking spray. First add flour, sugar, and cocoa inside the mug. Blend dry ingredients together. Add milk, oil, and egg. Gently stir until well combined. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Place in microwave and cook for 3 minutes. If desired, serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

• Draw a Venn diagram comparing how you and a friend are alike and different.

Science: (Choose 1.)

• Describe whether the cake resulted from a physical change or a chemical change. Learn more

• List three ways you can make a new friend. Think about your best friend and list three reasons

play at school or at home with their friend?

• Ask your parent if you can call a friend to see how they are doing.

• Write a letter to a friend and ask your parent to help you mail it to them, or ask your parent to

help you email or message a friend.
