As President of the World Maritime University (WMU), it gives me enormous pleasure and pride to present our Executive and Professional Development Programme. We have entered a very exciting period in the history of WMU. The WMU Board of Governors and the IMO Council have endorsed the IMO Secretary-General’s Study on the Sustainability of WMU, which identifies eight strategic directions for the University.

In light of this development, WMU has expanded its offerings to include oceans and energy goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in particular Goals 7, 14 and 17. Goal 7 concerns access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Goal 14 deals with the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and maritime resources for sustainable development. Goal 17 deals with strengthening the means of implementation and revitalization of the global partnership for sustainable development.

WMU is the global center of excellence for postgraduate maritime education, research and capacity building. With the strength of its solid track record, it is well placed to offer Executive and Professional Development Courses that meets the educational and capacity building needs of maritime and ocean constituents, including the relevant industry actors.

The WMU’s executive education team works closely with the client from the initial design stage of a course to its delivery. Joint efforts are made continuously to ensure that the challenges encountered are thoroughly analyzed and the key outcomes clearly identified. This allows for the teaching and learning objectives to be well formulated, corresponding programme curricula designed, the most suitable instructors selected and the outcomes achieved. Courses can be delivered at a location chosen by the client, or at our headquarters in Malmö.

I invite you contact us to examine how we can ensure your institution and staff can stay ahead of the demanding challenges faced by companies of today to secure your future in the dynamic and challenging maritime industry.
