How to make a wonky shape that will tesselate

You need: - a square of paper and some cardboard- a pencil, glue stick and scissors.

Draw two lines and label the sections 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Take the two left hand pieces (1 and 4) and move them so they back onto 2 and 3. (put straight edges together.

Move the two top pieces (2 and 1) and put them underneath 3 and 4. (straight edges together.

• Now glue the four sections onto the cardboard in this shape.

• This is your stamp that will tesselate.

• To check that it tesselates use the stamp to draw four shapes that all meet at a point. Then keep going!

Ta da! They should fit together, tesselating perfectly!
