Introduction Woodmark, a family owned company, was found-ed by Arne Christiansen in 1986 as an importer of upholstered furniture. In 1990 this strategic platform was changed from importing to manufacturing.

This enabled Woodmark to offer reductions in price and delivery leadtime as well pro-mote local Australian production.

In 1994 Woodmark collaborated with furniture designer Charles Wilson to develop, pro-totype ready for market a new chair design called the CW1 Swivel Chair. This started what has now become Woodmark’s established reputation of taking new designs and developing them, ready for market.

Woodmark has built-up an enviable reputation as an innovative and reliable manufactur-er in a discerning market and manufactures to the highest quality and design standards.

We pride ourselves on our expertise in resolving complicated detail. Our employees are trained in difficult and unique cabinet and upholstery techniques creating invaluable ex-pertise in these areas. Woodmark Australia has employees who have been with the com-pany since day one. Their loyalty and contribution over the years have only strengthened Woodmark’s current position.

Woodmark prides itself as being recognised for quality and innovation.

Woodmark values beautifully designed furniture and is committed to producing quality pieces for many more years to come, staying abreast of future trends in design and man-ufacturing techniques.

In 2008 Woodmark established alliances in China to manufacture 90% of Woodmark’s current range of products to supply to the world market through approved distributors.

This opportunity has enabled Woodmark to promote designed products, especially the Australian designed products to the world market.

NO5 SWIVEL CHAIR

Immediately striking yet engagingly subtle, No5’s combination of deep curves, sloping faces, ta-pering sides and soft rounded corners create an inviting new form. But it’s not all show as No5 has been created with a strong focus on ‘design for manufacture’. The result is a unique and beautiful chair that also happens to be very practical and cost effective.

“I’m fascinated by the capability of modern computer controlled manufacturing technologies, and the potential to apply these technologies in innovative new ways, creating subtle new forms that belie their machine origin. No5 is a continuation of my creative developments with CNC foam cutting technology. It’s complex form is cut in one piece from solid foam with very little wastage” - Keith Melbourne

STOOL 60

Babak’s goal when designing Stool 60 was to create a simple, practical, and stylish piece of furniture that mimics the user’s natural seating position, utilizing geometry for many different combinations.

Stool 60 is a versatile piece of furniture. It can be used in almost any environment whether residential, cor-porate, institutional, hospitality or retail. It may be used singularly or in various combinations and patterns

due to the smart geometry of the design. Whether space is limited or plentiful, Stool 60’s combinations make it suitable for any living condition, where it can be stacked up and easily packed away to maintain

space. Stool 60 presents a visual joy, even while waiting to be used.

LEDA SEAT

Its seductive curves are created by a series of plywood hoops on laser-cut anodised aluminium legs that offer a choice of comfortable seating positions. Leda is designed to be timeless rather than comply with any current trend or style - it’s intended to last and to be loved for a lifetime.

FLOSION STOOLFlosion is a multifunctional object, which accentuates great uses of creativity and practicality. It can function as a singular stool, a bench system or side table. The natural form, influenced by water waves is the concept be-hind Flosion. Flosion has a social dimension that brings people and ideas together. By connecting the stools together, it explores the unlimited potential of people’s creativity and energy exchange.

Flosion allows the user to interact with ease and creativity. Users can simply move Flosion into different po-sitions to change functionality from seat to bench. The larger the quantities of Flosion, the larger the object becomes when joined. Flosion has dimensions which are useful, helpful and practical for environments which need flexibility of use.

Flosion can be used at home, and has huge potential in the commercial arena including hotel foyers, bar lounges, nightclub, office halls, corporate reception and break out areas, meeting rooms, and waiting rooms. Another area includes retail and hospitality giving a distinctive organic form and functionality.

Flosion is entirely made from hoop pine plywood (plantation wood), a material chosen for its long life value, durability and ease of maintenance - not to mention its aesthetic beauty.

An organic and pure object which is valued, durable and stands the test of time.

SERIFInspired by the flow of molten metal, the Serif stool by Charles Wilson was designed to resemble a discarded industrial component - like the casing from a piece of agricultural or earth-moving equipment.

The Serif is designed to be tough and durable. Made from gravity die cast aluminium and then powder coated in bright industrial colours, the stools have a simple yet highly functional form and appeal. The Serif is designed to be tough and durable. Made from gravity die cast aluminium and then powder coated in bright industrial colours, the stools have a simple yet highly functional form and appeal.

While the rim has a uniform 7 millimetre thickness, the surface-thickness varies throughout the stools structure and is engineered to be robust yet as light as possible. The short version of the chunky-looking Serif weighs 4 kilograms and the counter-height version - 5.3 kgs. Nylon feet are in-serted into the base and are tough enough for outdoor surfaces, and kind to interior timber floors.

“While there is an undoubted rigidity to the clean lines and tailored shapes, a lively silhouette emerges that expresses this simple piece of furniture as an elegant sculpture.” Trendhunter

In 2013, Charless Serif stools were exhibited in the Salon de Mobile at the Temporary Museum of New Design, Milan, and were shown at 100% Design, London, the UKs largest contemporary de-sign event for industry professionals.
