    Punjabi Ramlal of Mumbai

    ********************************

Stories of Two Sparrows pulled to Shirdi.

Sai removes the fear of birth and death . That was His mission in coming to earth. Trusting in Sai alone would absolve us from fear. There is no need to debate on the validity of this statement. Those who believe in this wholeheartedly would reap the benefits.

    Kakaji Vaidya

One devotee of Goddess Saptashringi lived in Vani, near Nasik. To remove his worries the devi came in his dreams and directed him to go to Baba. He believed that the Lord of Trayambakeshvar is Baba and went there. But he did not get peace and came back dejectedly. The Goddess again came in his dreams and corrected him to go to Shirdi Baba. To appease his wishes Baba made the arrangements. He sent Shama who had a parental wish to fulfill at the Saptashringi temple but he offered them to Baba saying He is everything to him. Baba told him to go to Vani. There he met Sri Vaidya who helped him with the offerings

and learnt of his desire to go to Shirdi . He took him to Baba and Sri Vaidya felt immense bliss just from the darshan alone. He stayed there for 12 days and returned happily with Udhi.

    Kushalchand of Rahata

Once, Baba called Kakasaheb Dixit and told him to get the cart ready to bring Kushal Chand of Rahat. At the same time, Mr. Chand also had a dream where Baba asked him to come to Shirdi immediately. As he did not have a cart, he sent his son to inform Baba of his inability. At the same time, Dixit arrived and Mr. Chand happily accompanied him to Shirdi, rejoicing on Baba’s leela.

    Punjabi Ramlal of Mumbai

One Mr. Ramlal, a Punjabi Brahmin from Mumbai had a dream where a saint asked him to come to Shirdi. Since he did not know who that is and where Shirdi is, he was confused. But that very evening he saw a picture of Baba in a shop and collected the details and went to Shirdi. He stayed there all his lifetime.

    The Cave that Talked ***************************

One day in a jungle, Kharankhara, an old Lion was unable to prey upon any animal for quite a while. He was hungry and tired and thirsty. He was just strolling and chanced upon a cave. He found the shade inviting and thought of resting there awhile. After some time, he thought that a cave this nice should be home to some other animal and for sure it will come for shelter for night. He thought he will hide inside the cave and pounce on the animal when it comes.

The cave was home for a cunning fox. When it came for the night, he noticed the foot prints of an animal going in and not coming out of the cave. He understood the danger lurking inside his home. He devised a plan and shouted to the cave, "Hey my trusty cave, is it safe to come inside tonight?". He waited as if the cave would reply.

The lion heard this and did not reply at first. When the fox shouted again and asked why the cave was silent tonight, the lion thought that the cave is not replying because a stranger, the lion himself is inside. He then shouted to the fox, "You can come in, it is safe tonight". The sound was thun-dering with the echos of the cave to the fox outside. The fox at once sprinted to safe-ty. The lion waited in vain and went his way after a while.

    MORAL OF THE STORY ****************************

When there is a hint of danger, use your wit to escape.

    DANGER OF FIVE SENSES

    *****************************

The Vivekachudamani is a famous Sanskrit poem, written by Sri Adi Sankara. It describes developing Viveka, or the ability to discriminate real and unreal as the central task of Spiritual life. This literary work describes how some animals are ruled by a certain sense, compared to man, who is ruled by all five senses. Sri Maha Periyava talks about this in “Deivaththin Kural”.

Deer is ruled by its hearing sense. When the hunter blows the instrument the deer likes, deer is mesmerized by the sound, during which time it gets killed by the hunter.

The elephant is ruled by the sense of touch. When people want to catch an elephant, they make a big pit on the ground. They tie the female at one end. When the male elephant sees the female from the other side, it longs for the touch and so it comes running across. It does not notice the pit, and promptly falls inside.

The bug that falls and dies in the lighted lamp, is ruled by the sight sense.

The fish is ruled by the taste, as it gets caught easily if someone throws a bait.

The bees are ruled by the smell sense, and they get caught inside the big fragrant flowers because of this.

The Acharya worries that these animals die even when they are ruled by only one sense; what will happen to the Man, who is ruled by all five senses and pulled in different directions all the time?

Let us strive to free ourselves from our own senses.

    *** GOD BLESS ***

    ******************************************************************************

When i was young, i had ideas that sprung!

About life and the people, living in throngs!!

Richness was seen as plenty of Money, Luxury was a car, denied to many, Intelligent was synonymous with being brainy!

Never felt the “heart” that froze, because of thoughts, so uncanny!!

Luckily, i grew older and hopefully wiser, Life has taught me a few lessons with no adviser, i learn to differentiate between being rich and being content!

    “Wisdom’s meaning was completely different!!!

Knowledge was not what is in the books!

But that which leads to our “soul”, by taking a deeper look!!

Life starting to make a lot more sense, kindness made it’s very presence!

There was no more room for pretense, Love was of the main essence!!

It pays to grow and age with grace, each day has a special feel and pace, Regrets become less and less!

“Happiness” seems to make perfect sense!!
