In terms of people, It means that the person is trying to better himself.

In the christian perspective, it is God, through the Holy Spirit who does the work of making a person complete.

The Fall resulted in man digressing from and upsetting Gods plan.

for all have sinnedand fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Ever since, God has been reaching out to man

From time to time God has intervened in making man better and closer to him.

For God so lovedthe world that he gavehis one and only Son,that whoever believesin him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

The Bible talks about Gods plan for man.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord Jeremiah 29:11

Yes He has plans for you and me

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believedin his name,he gave the right to become children of Godchildren born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husbands will, but born of God. John 1:12-13

God @ WorkThe Birth, Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ was all part of Gods plan.

Jesus answered,I amthe wayand the truthand the life.No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

God @ WorkBelieving In Jesus Christ is just the first step. The work of God has just begun in you.

Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, a guide to complete the work of God in man.

If you love me, keep my commands.And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocateto help you and be with you foreverthe Spirit of truth.The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will bein you. John 14:15-17

Jesus also said what the role of the Holy Spirit would be.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. John 16:13

When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin,because people do not believe in me;about righteousness,because I am going to the Father,where you can see me no longer;11and about judgment, because the prince of this worldnow stands condemned. John 16: 8-10

So I say, walk by the Spirit,and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.Galatians 5:16

Conviction of SinThe Holy Spirit not only knows us, but he helps us in our weakness.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirithimself intercedes for usthrough wordless groans.And he who searches our heartsknows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedesfor Gods people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:26

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful;he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.1 Corinthians 10:13

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.For who knows a persons thoughtsexcept their own spiritwithin them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2: 10 -11WORKS THROUGH PRAYERThe Holy Spirit will intercede for us through prayer. ( Romans 8:26)

If you dont know what to pray, ask the Holy Spirit for help.

Oftentimes, God uses our prayers to change our hearts more than the hearts of others, to conform us to be more like him.

For those who are led by the Spirit of Godare the children of God. Romans 8:14

And you also were included in Christwhen you heard the message of truth,the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal,the promised Holy Spirit,who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritanceuntil the redemptionof those who are Gods possessionto the praise of his glory.
