Work & study in Germany
Welcome to iba | University of Cooperative Education. iba is Germany’s largest
private university of cooperative education and part of the F+U Group.
We offer undergraduate programmes throughout Germany. More than 3,300 students
are enrolled in our work-integrated Bachelor’s programmes in the field of business
admi nistration and management, social pedagogy, engineering, health and therapy.
As part of the F+U Group of Companies we look back on 40 years of experience in
the education sector. F+U operates schools, languages schools, universities and voca-
tional colleges.
All of iba’s degree programmes are externally accredited and state-recognised. Its
awards have the same status as Bachelor’s degrees from German universities and uni-
versities of applied sciences and qualify students for graduate employment or entry to
Master’s level study.
For me, choosing the ‘split-
week’ model was the correct
decision. I am always
involved in current processes
and can voice my opinion on
different matters. My company
entrusts me with important
long-term projects. For several
months now, I have even been
managing my own project,
which is a great challenge but
has also had a tremendous
learning effect for me. The
work experience will do great for
my future career prospects.“

Work-integrated study programmes in Germany
Work-integrated education is very popular in Germany. As a student you are enrolled in
a ‘dual’ Bachelor’s programme and work at a company at the same time. You gain valu-
able work experience during your studies and have excellent prospects of finding work
in the competitive German job market.
iba’s split week study model
iba study programmes are delivered jointly with approved companies/organisations that
employ the students as trainees/apprentices for the duration of their studies. iba prac-
tices a ‘split-week’ study model* based on a 40-hour working week: you spend ca.
20 hours/week studying (contact time & self-study) and 16 – 20 hours in work-based
learning at a partner company*. By the time you graduate, you have an ideal combina-
tion of academic and practical competence.
iba’s partner companies
The partner companies provide the practical on-the-job experience that complements
the academic component of the programme. iba cooperates with more than 2,000 part-
ner companies, including small and medium sized enterprises as well as international
corporations.
You can choose a partner company according to your choice of programme and your
personal preferences. Students generally go through an application process similar to
that for a job application. iba will assist you in finding a partner company and preparing
for interviews.
Our portfolio of partner companies includes:

The experience that I gained
by taking a dual study degree
helped me transition into the
workforce very easily. In my
company, the NH Hotel Group,
I got a good insight into many
different facets of business and
I was able to put my academic
knowledge to the test. After
three years at the NH Hotel
Group, I was very familiar with
the specific processes and,
after the completion of my
studies, I was offered a position
as ‘Business Travel Sales
Assistant’.
