External Impacts on Timing Here are some common approval requirements and their typical timeframes:
Municipality ApprovalsTwo to four weeks
Tree or Shrub RemovalOne to two weeks
Notifying other parties of potential water outages during constructionUp to one week
External Crossing ApprovalsThree to eight weeks
Other factors such as weather and water emergencies may also impact timelines.

1. Get Started• Call 780-412-3955, email

2. Complete Application• Complete the application form
found online at epcor.com/NewWaterConnection
• An EPCOR representative will be designated as your main contact for the project
• We may ask you for detailed site layout, mechanical, architectural and landscaping plans. We may also need to meet you on site
3. Preliminary Design and Quote• We review your submitted
drawings and plans
• We will examine the existing service materials. The existing service will have to be replaced if it is an unapproved material, including, but not limited to, lead, cast iron, galvanized, or asbestos cement
• We will examine the need for fire suppression requirements
• We will examine and confirm size requirements
• We provide you with your Service Entry Point (the point where EPCOR’s infrastructure meets your property line)
• We coordinate with City of Edmonton Drainage Services for joint trench developments
• We prepare a design and cost estimate for your review
4. Accept the Quote • You send us your signed
acceptance and payment so we can initiate construction
5. EPCOR Schedules Construction• We assess impact to other
customers and arrange any necessary shutdowns
• We arrange Alberta One-Call on public property, obtain materials, finalize schedules, and complete construction during regular business hours
• EPCOR constructs the service on public property prior to construction on private property
• We conduct inspection and testing of EPCOR-owned infrastructure
6. Customer Responsibilities• You are responsible for all work
on private property, including obtaining any required permits, approvals and Alberta One-Calls
• Complete connection to EPCOR-installed infrastructure
7. Call EPCOR for Meter Installation
• Contact EPCOR’s Water Meter Inspector at 780-412-6830 to schedule an appointment for a site inspection to get a meter installed
• Your building is required to have adequate heating during the winter months prior to installing a meter
8. EPCOR Connects your Meter• We install the meter and start
delivering water
