1.4 Port R&D Policy

The Port of Gijon R&D Policy is based on 1992 Spanish Ports Law, that defines the following mandate in its Title II, Chapter 37th, issue “n” :

“ To foster the training of its personnel and to develop studies and R&D in port related matters , as well as the environment protection, besides the cooperation with other ports, organizations and enterprises both Spanish and foreign.

2.1 R&D activities origin and evolution

SPANISH PORTS LAW

Title II, Art 37-nMandates the Port Authorities to perform R&D and Training activities

PAG starts the same year its first EU R&D project MUSEL/-7/24 at TELEMATIC program within FP3 .

PORT Strategic Plan 2020

Updated in 2007. defines a Port model where Quality and Customer satisfaction are the key objectives.

PAG starts the Port Knowledge Management department, at charge of European R&D projects and EU policies affaires.

Actual Situation 2009

Since 1992 up to 2009, PAG participates in 50 EU R&D projects as partner, associated or coordinator..

In 2009 PAG is participating in 2 FP6 projects, 4 FP7 projects and is coordinating 1 INTERREG Atlantic Space project
