The famous Arab navigator Ahmed Ibn Majid was born around AD 1432-1437 in RAK (Julphar).

For many years, Ras Al Khaimah was famous for its pearl divers and renowned as an important port of trade with links to Asia.

In 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined the union of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE, and particularly Ras Al Khaimah, is well known for its rich culture – folk music, folk dance and other traditional and popular art forms that embody and reflect the social and ethical values of the community.
