Priest: Have mercy on us, O Lord. People: For we have sinned against you. Priest: Show us, O Lord, your mercy. People: And grant us your salvation. Gloria (sung)
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord, Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Responsorial Psalm — Psalm 63

WORSHIP AID FOR AUGUST 29-30
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. (All bow at the following words through “and became man.”) For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the father and the Son, who with the father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Preparation of the Gifts
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His holy Church. Sanctus
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Memorial Acclamation
We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. Invitation to Communion
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
Please remain at your seat to receive Holy Communion. The ministers will come to you through the empty row in front of you.
As the minister approaches, please stand if you are able and remove your mask. You are asked to please receive Holy Communion in the hand.
After receiving Communion, you may kneel or be seated and replace your mask.

Communion Hymn — Blest are They
Blest are they, the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of God. Blest are they, full of sorrow, they shall be consoled.
Rejoice and be glad! Blessed are you, holy are you! Rejoice and be glad! Yours is the kingdom of God!
Blest are they, the lowly ones, they shall inherit the earth. Blest are they who hunger and thirst, they shall have their fill. (Rejoice…)
Blest are they who show mercy, mercy shall be theirs. Blest are they, the pure of heart, they shall see God! (Rejoice…)
Blest are they who seek peace; they are the children of God. Blest are they who suffer in faith, the glory of God is theirs. (Rejoice…)
Blest are you who suffer hate, all because of me. Rejoice and be glad, yours is the kingdom; shine for all to see. (Rejoice…)

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Closing Hymn — Lift High the Cross
Lift High the Cross, the love of Christ proclaim Till all the world adore his sacred name.
Each newborn servant of the Crucified Bears on the brow the seal of him who died. (Lift high…)
O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, Your death has brought us life eternally. (Lift high…)

PARISH NEWS Dear Parishioners,
There is much to learn from studying the Desert Fathers. They are rich in spirituality. For example, one day one of the Desert Fathers told a story about his experience about going out into the desert.
On a trip into a nearby village for supplies, the young hermit saw a man with only one leg going by. Then he saw a mother begging for food for her starving child. Finally, he saw a man who had been a victim of a severe beat-ing.
Seeing these unfortunate people parading before him, the monk turned to God in prayer and asked, “Oh, Great Lord, how can you, such a loving and merciful God, see so much suffering and do nothing about it?” A few minutes later the holy monk heard God’s voice deep in his heart. “I have done something about it — I made sure that you saw them! Now, what will you do in response to their suffering?”
Have a great week!
Love, Fr. Bill

RCIA Sessions this Fall
Are You Interested in the Catholic Faith?
We will soon begin a new journey in faith to share the richness of the Catholic Church and our parish family. You are invited to learn what the Church teaches and be introduced to some of our parish members. These ses-sions are also opportunities for you to ask those perplex-ing questions you may have about the Church. These gatherings are for adults who have never been baptized; Christians who seek to join the Catholic Church; or Cath-olics who never received Confirmation or Eucharist. Ses-sions will be adapted according to the COVID-19 guide-lines. Sessions are Wednesdays, at 7:00 p.m. To discuss your questions and learn about the process this year, call Suzanne Marciniak at 419-475-4348, ext. 109, or e-mail [email protected].
Infant Baptism Preparation Infants remind us of the Miracle of Life and the tremendous Gift God gives us. As a community we offer parents our support and prayers for their families. We live our faith with the hope that new parents will pass on our Faith to the next generation.
First Time Parents — Due to the COVID-19 health situ-ation, in lieu of our regular New Parent Morning of Pray-er and Reflection, Christ the King is offering a remote Baptismal Preparation Course through Ascension Press. For more or to register, call Amanda Huffman at 419-475-4348, ext. 115, or e-mail [email protected].
Check us out on Facebook at Christ the King Toledo or Christ the King School Toledo.
Galatians Bible Study by Jeff Cavins will be hosted on Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. beginning on September 11, or Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. beginning on September 14. Both sessions will be in our Parish Center Meeting Room. Due to social distancing, the class size is very lim-ited. There is also an independent study, online version available — including Zoom discussion sessions. In this eight-part Bible Study, you will find an answer to the question, “What must we do to be saved?” Paul’s letter to the Galatians provides the answer and reveals the love God has for his children. To register and order materials, contact Amanda Huffman at 419-475-4348, ext. 115, or e-mail her at [email protected]. Registration dead-line is this Friday, September 4. Space is limited!

Parish Nurse Tip of the Week Prevention 101
Vaccines don’t just protect people getting vaccinated; they protect everyone around them too. Most insurance companies provide cover-age for vaccines. Many at no cost or co-pay. Researchers now see that the falling immunization rate is creating a resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases. Accord-ing to www.publichealthmyths.com, there are several myths that persist…
Vaccines cause autism — A study done in 1997 by a British surgeon, Andrew Wakefield, suggested that the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine was causing an upsurge of autism. Although the paper was discredited and several other major studies done showed no link between any vaccine and autism. Continued studies have found that autism develops in utero, well before the baby is born.
Infant immune systems can’t handle so many vaccines — Babies are exposed to countless bacteria and viruses every day. Any immunizations are negli-gible in comparison. Small children are exposed to fewer immunologic components overall than children in past decades.
Natural immunity is better than vaccine-acquired immunity — Natural immunity means catching a disease and getting sick. The dangers of this far out-weigh the benefits. By contracting the measles, you would face a 1 in 500 chance of death from your symptoms. In contrast, the number of people who have had severe allergic reactions from an MMR vaccine is less than one in one million.
Vaccines contain unsafe toxins — The concern over the use of formaldehyde, mercury, or aluminum in vaccines are used only in trace amounts and are FDA-approved. According to the FDA and CDC, formal-dehyde is produced at higher rates by our own meta-bolic systems, and there is no scientific evidence the that low levels of this chemical or the others can be harmful.
Vaccines are one of the great pillars of modern medicine. Life use to be especially brutal for children before vac-cines, with huge portions of childhood deaths due to dis-eases like measles, smallpox, whooping cough, or rubella — to name just a few. Today theses sicknesses can be completely prevented with a simple injection. Vaccines continue to protect us from potentially devastating forms of infectious diseases.

2020-2021 Religious Education Registration Last March our Religious Education Program came to a quick halt due to the pandemic. It left our students miss-ing their religious education. As you know, school dis-tricts around our area have been preparing for in-person, distance learning, and some adopting a hybrid model. In preparing for this year, one of our key concerns was try-ing to provide a consistent religious education model, es-pecially since we simply do not know what the coming months will bring. We hope and pray for good things.
Because of these challenges, we have researched online, home-based programs for Religious Education. We feel this is going to be the best option this year for our families given the uncertainty of the next few months. The pro-gram we have chosen is called Family Formation.
Our first Sunday will be October 6, and it will be a virtual experience via Zoom. Instructions will be given for the lessons for October to be completed by your family over the next three weeks. While we know this may present challenges for some families, we feel this is going to be the best solution this year for our students to receive a consistent religious education.
There are two Information Nights about this program — Sunday, September 20, and Wednesday, September 23. Both begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Basil Goes Activities Building and will last no longer than one hour. Please use the link below to sign up for which session you can at-tend. If neither work, please let Sandi Trabbic know as soon as possible. The program fee is $85 per family (not per child) payable by check at your information night.
