WORSHIP AT HOME “Let us consider how to stir one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV) One of the most essential qualities of going to church on Sunday mornings is that we do so together. Gathering together with other believers is essential to us being the Church, to be unified as Christ’s body. Though it is not currently possible or wise for us to gather in one building, we can continue to be united as we worship God as one church. Being together as a church in this way is going to look a bit different for the time being, as we lift our voices and look to God’s word from within our homes. In this temporary setting, our hope is that the elements of this resource will provide you with the essential parts of our Sunday morning gatherings. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16 ESV) In this guide, we have provided scripture readings, prayers, and various songs within the typical structure we have used on Sunday mornings. This structure is what we call a rehearsal of the Gospel and has generally followed the pattern: Welcome and Gathering, Adoration, Call to Confession, Assurance of Pardon, Word and Sermon, and Response and Benediction. We encourage you to prepare it beforehand! This worship guide is meant as a tool that directs your attention, and is written to be used alongside the service video on YouTube, which is also located on the front page of wbc.org. As you gather in your homes to worship together with us as a church, it may be helpful to assign various roles to one another. For example, you could have one person read the scripture readings, while another person leads the prayers. Our prayer is that this resource guides you in rehearsing the truth of the Gospel, which is what we aim to do each and every time we gather. Signed, Mike Johnson & Crandell Hemphill

GATHERING & ADORATION Gathering: King of Kings Verse 1 In the darkness we were waiting Without hope without light Till from Heaven You came running There was mercy in Your eyes To fulfil the law and prophets To a virgin came the Word From a throne of endless glory To a cradle in the dirt Chorus Praise the Father, Praise the Son, Praise the Spirit three in one. God of Glory, Majesty. Praise forever to the King of Kings. Verse 2 To reveal the kingdom coming And to reconcile the lost To redeem the whole creation You did not despise the cross For even in Your suffering You saw to the other side Knowing this was our salvation Jesus for our sake You died Chorus Verse 3 And the morning that You rose All of heaven held its breath Till that stone was moved for good For the Lamb had conquered death And the dead rose from their tombs And the angels stood in awe For the souls of all who'd come To the Father are restored

Verse 4 And the Church of Christ was born Then the Spirit lit the flame Now this Gospel truth of old Shall not kneel shall not faint By His blood and in His Name In His freedom I am free For the love of Jesus Christ Who has resurrected me Chorus (x2) Praise the Father, Praise the Son, Praise the Spirit three in one. God of Glory, Majesty. Praise forever to the King of Kings. Tag Praise forever to the King of Kings

Call to Worship: Psalm 147:1-3, 5, 10-11 (ESV) Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

PENITENCE AND PARDON Call to Confession: Romans 7:15-22, 24 (ESV) [Leader] I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. [All] So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. [Leader] For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. [All] For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. [Leader] Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. [All] Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? At this time, we encourage you to pause and pray in silence. We confess our need for the Lord and of his salvation, the answer to our transgression.

Song of Confession: Not In Me Verse 1 No list of sins I have not done No list of virtues I pursue No list of those I am not like Can earn myself a place with You O God be merciful to me I am a sinner through and through My only hope of righteousness Is not in me but only You Verse 2 No humble dress no fervent prayer No lifted hands no tearful song No recitation of the truth Can justify a single wrong My righteousness is Jesus' life My debt was paid by Jesus' death My weary load was borne by Him And He alone can give me rest Verse 3 No separation from the world No work I do no gift I give Can cleanse my conscience cleanse my hands I cannot cause my soul to live But Jesus died and rose again The pow'r of death is overthrown My God is merciful to me And merciful in Christ alone Ending My righteousness is Jesus' life My debt was paid by Jesus' death My weary load was borne by Him And He alone can give me rest And He alone can give me rest CCLI Song # 7006013 David L. Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 115:1, 2 Corinthians 12:10, Colossians 2:13-15 (ESV) [Leader] And you, who were dead in your trespasses And the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, Having forgiven us all our trespasses, By canceling the record of debt That stood against us with its legal demands. [All] This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities And put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. [Leader] For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, Insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. [All] Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!

Song of Assurance: How Firm A Foundation Verse 1 How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent word! What more can He say than to you He hath said, To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled? Verse 2 Fear not I am with thee O be not dismayed; For I am thy God I will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee help thee; And cause thee to stand. Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand. Verse 3 When through the deep waters I call thee to go; The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow. For I will be with thee in trouble to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress. Verse 4 When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie; My grace all-sufficient shall be thy supply. The flame shall not hurt thee I only design, Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine. Verse 5 The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will not, I will not desert to its foes. That soul though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never no never no never forsake. Tag That soul though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never no never no never forsake.
