WORSHIP AT HOME We do two things on Resurrection Sunday. We remember the historical and triumphant event of Jesus Christ rising from the dead. And we proclaim that his Resurrection eternally changes our lives. For those who follow Jesus, being “in Christ” means that his death releases us from our slavery to sin, and his resurrection means we too are raised to new life. Life that we no longer live to ourselves, but through Christ working in us! In his death and resurrection, all things – including death itself – are put under his authority and love. With joy, we can say together: “Christ has died, Christ is risen, and Christ will come again!” So how do we remember and proclaim this mystery of faith? Although we cannot “go to church” exactly in spirit of Hebrews 10:24-25: Our aim has always been to worship in this way:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16 ESV)

Therefore, this worship guide is meant as a tool that directs your attention to Jesus through God’s word! It is written to be used alongside the service video on YouTube, which is also located on the front page of wbc.org. As you gather in your homes to worship together with us as a church, it may be helpful to assign various roles to one another. For example, you could have one person read the scripture readings, while another person leads the prayers. Our prayer is that this resource guides you in rehearsing the truth of the Gospel, which is what we aim to do each and every time we gather. Signed, Mike Johnson & Crandell Hemphill

Call to Worship: John 20:1-9 1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3 So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. 4 Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

Adoration & Praise: King of Kings Verse 1 In the darkness we were waiting, Without hope without light. Till from Heaven You came running, There was mercy in Your eyes. To fulfil the law and prophets, To a virgin came the Word. From a throne of endless glory, To a cradle in the dirt. Chorus Praise the Father, Praise the Son Praise the Spirit three in one God of Glory, Majesty Praise forever to the King of Kings Verse 2 To reveal the kingdom coming, And to reconcile the lost. To redeem the whole creation, You did not despise the cross. For even in Your suffering, You saw to the other side. Knowing this was our salvation, Jesus for our sake You died. Chorus Verse 3 And the morning that You rose, All of heaven held its breath. Till that stone was moved for good, For the Lamb had conquered death. And the dead rose from their tombs, And the angels stood in awe. For the souls of all who'd come, To the Father are restored. Verse 4 And the Church of Christ was born, Then the Spirit lit the flame. Now this Gospel truth of old, Shall not kneel shall not faint. By His blood and in His Name, In His freedom I am free. For the love of Jesus Christ, Who has resurrected me. The Light of Triumph: Isaiah 25:6-9 (ESV) [Leader] On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. [All] He will swallow up death forever; And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, [Leader] And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. [All] This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

Song of the Gospel: In Christ Alone Verse 1 In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light my strength my song This Cornerstone this solid Ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love what depths of peace When fears are stilled when strivings cease My Comforter my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand Verse 2 In Christ alone who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live Verse 3 There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ Verse 4 No guilt in life no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand CCLI Song # 3350395 Keith Getty | Stuart Townend © 2001 Thankyou Music (Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing) For use solely with the SongSelect®. The Light of Life: 1 Corinthians 15:51-57 (ESV) [Leader] Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. [All] For the trumpet will sound, And the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. [Leader] For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, And this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, [All] Then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” [Leader] The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. [All] But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sermon Text: Revelation 1:12-20 (ESV) 12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. 19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Benediction: John 20:21-23 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
