COUNTER STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE - TACTICS FOCUSED TEAM BASED SHOOTER

Getting started: ➢ You can launch CS:GO directly from your Steam Library

➢ CS:GO is free but it is a large download. Make sure you have installed it correctly before playing.

➢ Make sure you have joined your Team’s Discord Channel to start communicating straight away.

Setting up the Game Lobby: Before getting started, designate a leader for both teams to start a game. This individual will need to add all members from both their own and the opposing squad to their Steam friends list. You should negotiate this process via Discord, which may include some channel hopping.

To invite your new friends to the in-game lobby, launch CS:GO from Steam and

on the main menu, invite your friendly and opposing squad members to the lobby group. This can be done by expanding the popup menu on the right and clicking on the ‘Invite friend to play’ icon next to their portrait.

Starting a Custom Game (5v5): When your Game Lobby is set up with all players, you can start a custom game by the following:

➢ Go to ‘Play CS:GO’ in the top left of the main menu ➢ Select ‘Practice with Bots’ to create a custom game. Bots can

be removed later at your leisure ➢ Select ‘Casual’ game mode ➢ Choose an appropriate map. Dust II is recommended for

beginners

Additionally, check the option in the bottom left so that ‘Friends Can Join’, in case someone gets disconnected. When everyone is ready to go, press the ‘Go’ option in the bottom right.

Counter-Strike typically involves two teams confronting each other for defusal or hostage rescue operations. These teams are Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. Make sure you and your squad members choose the same team.

Removing Bots: By default, a number of bots may have spawned in the game with you. If you would like to remove them, the Lobby leader will need to kick them. To remove bots:

➢ Enable Developer Console by going to Game Settings->Game->Enable Developer Console

➢ Press ~ to open the Developer Console ➢ Type “bot_kick” without quotes ➢ Bots will be immediately removed from the game

Joining the Well Played server (10+ v 10+): To join the larger server hosted for more people, you will need to use a console command or alternatively the Community Server Browser. To join via console command:

➢ Enable Developer Console by going to Game Settings->Game->Enable Developer Console

➢ Press ~ to open the Developer Console ➢ Type in “connect SERVER-IP” without quotations and where

SERVER-IP is the IP address given to you during the Well Played event. This will likely occur via Discord on the main chat channel.

You may also find the server via the Community Server Browser by going to ‘Play CS:GO’ and selecting ‘Community Server Browser’ from the dropdown menu. You will need to know the name of the server to find it correctly.
