April 2017 – Volume XII, Issue 4
Walden Woods Ltd.
Here we are at the end of winter. WOW! What a season we had. In February, we had a successful Valentine's dinner/dance, Rose Gordon's Animal shelter benefit and Barb Christy's Mardi Gras. Three super events with some great volunteers helping to make them possible. Last month we held the Legend's 9th Annual show consisting of two dinner/shows and a Sunday matinee - and what a show it was! Very tiring but so much fun. We have had great reviews and I'm so proud of my cast and all the volunteers. Also we had a trivia night with Bev Belcher hosting it. Great job Bev. Another success was the St, Patrick's dinner/dance. It was a sell out with Paula Budreau as the host. Nice job with that. Another fun event was the Military card party hosted by Helen Oliveira and Chris Bergeron. Great trial run. Looking for more. At this time I would like to thank the host of the Canadian Day party held on West Woodbridge. What a group these Canadians are; always jumping right in and volunteering. GREAT partyers too! Lots of fun. We are quieting down in April with a appreciating day for all the snowbirds on the 31st of March at the Ltd and our annual Easter snack, egg hunt and bonnet contest on Saturday at 9:00. Watch for flyers for more info. We would like to wish all the snowbirds a safe trip home and hurry back this fall. It's possible the new building will be done which includes the new office and game room. We would like to take the time to meet all the new homeowners. We will plan an event in the future Enjoy the spring and your retirement. Ann Pearson [email protected] 352-212-1078
Walden Woods North
Spring is finally here. The clocks have been changed and the flowers are blooming. And don’t all the new flowers in front of our clubhouse look beautiful. Thanks to Terrie and Lisa for all their hard work. We love the flowers
We had lots of fun in March. There was an exciting doggie show/parade and we thank all the pet owners who brought their precious puppies to the park. There were about 20 puppies there and they seemed to enjoy meeting all their friends. A special thanks to Linda Kester for doing such a great job as the host.
We also had an excellent St. Patrick’s Day dinner of corned beef and cabbage and thanks to John Simmons and all the helpers for a great meal.
Speaking of great meals, we would like to thank the gentlemen who make us a wonderful breakfast each month. I heard many words of praise this past month and the food was delicious. So thumbs up to the men in our kitchen. And when there are 6 or 7 men in that very small kitchen, you know they have to be very well organized in order to provide a timely and tasty meal. Thanks to you all.
Upcoming this month is the ever popular Burger Bar. Also, the Fish Fry will be held this month. Once again this year, our own Jerry Johnson will be frying the fish. Also remember the taste of Walden Woods pot luck dinner on the first Wednesday, the coffee and donuts meeting the first Saturday morning, and the breakfast the second Saturday morning. For more information about our events, see the activity listing in this Gazette.
If anyone ever has any questions about what is happening, please feel free to call any of the social club members for answers. We all are more than willing to help if we can.

Walden Woods Limited Homeowners’ Association – From the President
Hello to April! Spring has arrived. Soon many of our friends will be returning north to their summer homes and to their families. We wish you safe travels.
Many of us have noticed the paint markings at the clubhouse indicating where the new building will be located. Hopefully it will be completed in the Fall.
Your board of directors is still working with Sun management in trying to resolve many of the issues that continue to be a problem here in the community. We can only ask for your continued support and patience. At this time some of the maintenance problems such as the pool and spa ,and upgrades at the sewer plant, have been corrected.
The boards will be meeting with Sun management in April and we will report on any progress or good news to pass along.
Until then please continue to watch the speed limit, clean up after your pets and support the social committees. Thank You, Nick Fleischer, President LTD HOA 724-996-8074
Walden Woods North Homeowners’ Association – From the President As we enter April and Spring is here our northern friends start thinking about returning home. We would like to tell you how much we enjoy having you here for the Winter months and wish you all a safe trip home. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you travel North. I would like to thank everyone who has paid their HOA dues. Old and new members alike we need your support to make our HOA strong and to let our voices be heard. At the present time about 60% of the home owners in the North belong to the HOA. I would like to list a few things we have accomplished this year with the help of Sun Company's management and our great maintenance team: 1. Planting of flowers and plants throughout the community. 2. A new treadmill in the exercise room. 3. Carpet cleaned in the clubhouse. 4. Holes patched in the fence around the retention ponds. 5. The awning replaced at the shuffleboard court. 6. A new refrigerator and garbage disposal installed in the kitchen. Hopefully by the time this news letter is published the front gate will be working properly and the entrance lights will be replaced. Our April HOA meeting will be Tuesday April 11th at 7:00 PM in the North clubhouse. This will be our last meeting for the summer, we will resume the meetings in September. John Simmons HOA President [email protected] 352-503-2500

Message from HOA Chairman Ed Green
There is only one place to start and since it is impossible to remember all of the names the only safe thing to do is to say thank you to all. Everyone who helped and everyone who attended. What a great show this year each performance just got better and better. Ann Pearson did a wonderful job putting this show together. She was assisted by Trish Hollenbeck, Holly Fleischer, Barb Christy, and Bob Crowley, and of course, all of the wonderful 'celebrities' in attendance.
Snowbirds will be flying back North soon but please before you leave please support your HOA by joining before you go back. Your HOA never stops working for you, every resident should support their efforts because every resident benefits.
There are many things that the HOA’s are working on together and there will always be something new in the works. Please attend the monthly meetings.
Thank you for your support.

Citrus Blessing Dinner Update The Citrus Blessings Dinner was a huge success thanks to all of the volunteers that helped me make it possible. We were able to provide 382 pounds of food goods and $1,000.00 to the organization. Special thanks goes to the "Strawberry Cutters" , the servers, and the "Men of Wlden Woods" who kept us entertained with Olympic Synchronized Swimming and a rousing rendition of "YMCA" by the Village People!
Again, I want to thanks everyone who volunteered for this important function... and I apologize for the "hard biscuits." Esther Brunet

Many, many thanks to Jim & Mona MacNeill, Ken & Marie Basso, Ron & Marje Overholt, Steve & Ann Marie Lowe, Jake & Sue Hatfield, and Gordon and Beverly Belcher for a spectacular afternoon of great fun, good food, and fine fellowship.

Legends 2017 - 9th Edition (continued from previous page) What a great show it was this year. Many thanks to the super cast and all the volunteers we had. I cannot thank everyone enough for what they did to put this all together. It took 40 cast members, 16 people behind the scenes, and 15 volunteers preparing and serving the meals to make this show possible. There were many hours spent getting everyone together, rehearsing, preparing the music, putting the stage together, planning the meals and prep work. Trish Hollenbeck and Holly Fleischer did a super job on the hors d'ouvers Friday night — which took two days to prepare . Barb Christy did a superb job on the turkey dinner Saturday night. Some folks had concerns about the price of the dinners. Next year, as of right now, there will be no dinners, just shows. Ed Green, our production manager worked tirelessly for weeks as did Bob Crowley who never complained putting all the music together with all the changes. The cast, what can I say, one of the best ever. So much fun and we had so many laughs. Although I had many nervous hours, I knew it would all come together. And it did... spectacularly. Videos of the performance are available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppP_6I76MJ4&list=PLaXeCfM32JfA2246dN7efvuRyQFJgO4zw. Thanks again everyone in the show, behind the scenes and to all who attended. To those who did not attend, you missed out on a great opportunity for entertainment and community fellowship.
2017 Mardi Gras The Mardi Gras Parade, Poker Run, and Pot Luck dinner was held February 28, 2017. There were many decorated golf carts, great costumes, and even a float! The winners were... Best Decorated Cart -- Chuck & Terri Lempke; Best Female Costume -- Faye Davis; Best Male Costume -- Mike Crockett. Poker Run Results: 1st Place - Ken Basso; 2nd Place - Diana Murphy.
