Dear Sisters and brothers at Grace Lutheran Church,

Isaiah 43:19-21 The Message (MSG):

16-21 This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, The God who summons horses and chariots and armies— they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’ —the coyotes and the buzzards— Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sun-baked earth, Drinking water for the people I chose, the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me.

As we continue to rejoice in the joy of Easter the new thing that God was doing that the prophet Isaiah foretold, let us also rejoice in the resurrection, the new things happening here at Grace.

Over the past few months a lot has happened, we had an incredible Easter Egg hunt and a free concert for the community, our council has been spending a lot of time thinking about the future of grace and our mission, and we had some major facility

improvements with new lighting and a new roof on the way.

Grace is alive and experiencing many new things, and we are following Jesus together, growing in faith together, and connecting to one another and the Thomasville community together.

New things are happening here, amazing things signs of God’s love.

Let us continue to be the church together and continue to try new things for the sake of the Gospel and the Thomasville community together.

God is with you all!

NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATION

The Christian formation committee would like to thank all the volunteers, all who stuffed eggs, all who stuffed bags, and all who contributed to the Easter Egg Hunt in any way! Thanks for providing an incredible event for families in our community.

And a special thanks to all those who helped with Breakfast on Easter Sunday!

Thanks to all who came out to our spring workday and helped!

The Thomasville Middle school will have their end of grade testing. Testing begins Friday, May 24th, Wednesday 5/29 and ends on Friday, May 31st. Proctors are needed between the hours of 7:30am, -12pm. The PTA would like to see if Grace Lutheran Church could help provide volunteers to proctor testing

during these time frames. They need a total of 20-30 proctors each day so any help would be greatly appreciated. If interested let Pastor Cassie know or contact Renee Dow, PTA president at renee.dow.rd.7 @gmail.com.

On June 20th, Pastor Cassie will be throwing out the first pitch at the Hi-Toms baseball game! If you are interested, get tickets and join your church family for fellowship and baseball.

We will be honoring Graduates on June 2nd during worship. If you have a child, grandchild, or other family affiliated with Grace Lutheran that are graduating, please let Pastor Cassie know and please plan to be at worship on June 2nd.

The Stewardship committee would like to thank all those who came to the Davidson Singers concert at Grace and helped with this event on April 27th.

Jim McClain and Lorretta Wise would like to announce that Jim’s latest cancer scans were overwhelmingly positive. Thank you for your prayers and support, Grace Lutheran Church made all the difference.

A special thank you to all those who made soup for our Lenten Soup and Study on what makes us Lutheran. Thanks for providing delicious

meals for us each week and for the fellowship.

Our Mission

Following -Growing-Connecting

Following the example of Christ, we are growing together, connecting with community through God’s grace.

What does this mean?

Following the example of Christ through service

Jesus’s ministry was defined by how he served and treated others (Matthew 20:28) we believe in following the

example of Jesus through making an impact in the Thomasville community following the example of Jesus by

loving our neighbors and serving them.

We are growing together in faith

We believe that we do ministry better together than alone, we bring out the best in each other and help one

another to grow in faith, love, and good deeds (2 Peter 3:18).

Connecting with community

We are called to be there and present in the lives of one another and in the Thomasville community, we will be

a place that the community feels welcome to gather (Galatians 6:2).

Our Core Values

The principals that define who we are as a community and make our mission possible.

Fellowship: We believe in feeding ourselves spiritually by gathering together in community to play and enjoy

time in community.

Support: We believe that when Jesus says, “feed my sheep” (John 21:17) it’s a call to support each other, the

Thomasville community, and especially those who are hungry.

Grace: Living into our name, we believe that all that we do is possible because of God’s Grace, God’s

unconditional love and forgiveness given to us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Welcome: We believe that all people are welcome to be part of our mission and ministry.

Worship: We believe in the Lutheran tradition of a rich liturgical worship that brings comfort and invites many

to participate in worship.

Service: We believe in serving one another and our neighbors following the example of Christ.

OUR MISSION & CORE VALUES
