This is a proposal on how the citizens of this Minecraft world should build their minecart rails to ensure
arrival and minimize damage to citizens.

Layout of Rails
This layout of rails will allow multiple citizens to travel simultaneously on the same segment. The only
risk of collision is at the four blocks of rail at the beginning and end of every segment.
Lighting
Torches should be placed along the middle of the two rails separated by a gap of eight empty blocks.
Every rise or drop in elevation counts as an additional block.
Figure a shows the placement of torches on a ground track and the corresponding light levels of the
surrounding blocks. Note that the lowest level is eight, meaning no hostile mobs may spawn within this
area. Figure b is shaded according to the light level. Figure c illustrates the effect a raise in altitude has
on a blocks light level.

Ground Tracks
Ground tracks need to be surrounded by fences one block away from the tracks. The fences prevent
unwanted mobs from interfering with minecarts which are en route. The extra block of distance it to
ensure that no creepers get within triggering distance of travelling citizens. Ground tracks require an
additional torch on the outer edge of every corner as illustrated in figures a and b.
Elevated Tracks
Elevated tracks should maintain a distance of three (four from the actual tracks) from the ground below.
This is to ensure that no creepers get within triggering distance of travelling citizens and endermen
cannot remove blocks crucial to transportation.
Subterranean Tracks
Subterranean tracks should have an empty space of three blocks above the ground of the tunnel. This is
to prevent suffocation damage to citizens while exiting minecarts below grounds. There should also be
no blocks on the inside corners of bends in the minecart track. This is also to prevent suffocation
damage to citizens while traveling around said bends.

Booster Rail Layout
Every station should provide a minimum of three booster rails at the beginning of every segment to get
the minecart up to the maximum speed of eight m/s. After that, there should be one booster track per
32 blocks (also seen as separated by 31 blocks.) The distance should decrease directly proportional to
the change in height between the two boosters. Also, the slope of a track should never exceed 1/8. The
redstone torches should be kept at the same level as the tracks, unlike in the illustration.
Station LayoutsStations should be able to accept as well as distribute mine carts on all rails leading to the station. As
previously mentioned, every station needs to provide a minimum of 3 booster tracks at the beginning of
every segment.

Figure 1 Circuitry below Red Button Figure 2 Circuitry below Yellow Detector Rail
Omit the yellow line and circuitry for a three rail station. (There is an error in this diagram, there must
also be a detector rail just before the boosters on the blue line, output ord with the detector rail on the
yellow line.) Design adapted fromKerios three-track station design.
