Each year the American Red Cross

provides assistance to more than 2 million

service members and many of our nation’s

24 million veterans. They support military

families, military and veteran’s hospitals

and provide emergency communications

across the globe. And once a year, they get

the joy of delivering holiday cards to

veterans, military families and active-duty

service members at hospitals and installations around the world. Join the

Wyandanch Public Library to help show our veterans how much we care by

creating hand-made Holiday cards that will delivered through a local agency.

The cards and personal messages, sent by tens of thousands of Americans,

provide a welcome “touch of home” for our troops during the holiday season.

All participants will receive a free book courtesy of Adelphi University!

Annual Children’s Christmas Party Join the Wyandanch Public Library as we

Dinner & A Movie -Hey kids in K – 5th

grade! Do you like pizza and Charlie

Brown? Then join us on for pizza and a

showing of “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and Mayflower

Voyagers!” Saturday, November 17th at 1:30 pm

Pumpkin Puzzlers – Want to have some fun

and learn more about pumpkins? Then come to

the library for a day of observations, predic-

tions, drawing, weighing, measuring and creating cool charts

with our findings. Grade 1st – 5th

PJ Storytime! Kids Pre-K – 2nd Grade, put on your PJ’s and

head over to your library for a fun- filled Storytime and craft

hour! Tuesday evenings at 6 pm.

Around the Schoolyard – So, you think math

can’t be fun? Well think again, and join us as

we travel around the schoolyard in this interac-

tive math game. Grades 3rd – 5th.

An Apple a Day – How well do you know your apples?

Join us for a fun-filled, hands-on activity all about apples.

We’ll use our senses to discover the differences in various

types of apples, learn about the different parts of apples and

what they’re for, and create a unique placemat

using apple halves. Grades 1st – 5th.

Egg Carton Addition – What do egg cartons have

to do with math? Come to the library and find out

as we play a fun, interactive game. Grades K-2nd.

Create Your Own Sunflower Pillow – We’re getting crafty!

Join us as we use felt, cotton balls, and paint to create

decorative sunflower pillows! Grades 1st – 5th.

enjoy classic board games. Grades K – 5th.

Hot Chocolate Math Fun! – Come in out of the

cold and join us for a cup of hot chocolate as you

create your own delicious hot chocolate math ma-

nipulative board game to play and take home!

Penguin Pals – Ever wonder how penguins keep

warm? Join us for a hands-on experiment and

create your own penguin pal! Grades 3rd – 5th.

Holiday Goodies in a Jar - Want to create a gift everyone

will love? Join us, to make Brownies or Cookies in a jar

complete with a handmade label and instruction card.

Staying Above Zero – It’s a race to the boiling point

with this exciting temperature game. Come to the

library for this fun, interactive activity, and learn

some basic facts about temperature. Who knew

math could be so much fun! Grades 4th- 5th.

Make Your Own New Year’s Party Hat! – Ready to ring

in the New Year? Join us to make your own party hat just

in time for New Year’s Eve. Grades 1st – 5th.

Cupcake Wars! Be a part of the ultimate cup-

cake decorating challenge! Families of chil-

dren K – 5th will compete against each other in

this fun-filled cupcake battle. Trivia included

if time permits. Sunday, December 23rd at 2:00 pm.

Create a Fraction Collage – Help us create this

unique collage for display in the library using

math and simple supplies. Grades 1st-5th.

WPL Fitness Corner

Zumba– Join Pamela Parker from Universal Wellness

for a hour of family Zumba fitness program at your li-

brary. Zumba is a Latin dance -inspired fitness pro-

gram including dance and aerobic elements inspired by

dance styles such as Hip-Hop, Soca, Samba, Salsa, Mer-

engue and Mambo. Have fun getting fit.

Tai Chi– Join Suzanne Ernst for an

hour of life-enhancing exercise to

keep your mind and body in bal-

ance. Suzanne has been teaching Tai

Chi for many years. Tai Chi is more

cause the millions of people who practice it are living a

more active life than those who don’t. As a result,

many Western doctors are now recommending it to

their patients, especially adults. The graceful, slow

speed coupled with an emphasis on deep breathing

and mental focus, creates balance, flexibility and calm-

tion of your mind and body.
