It’s a simple equation: every time the brake pedal goes down, brake temperature goes up. �e only sure way to keep brakes cool is to stay o� them. An integral Allison Automatic retarder can help you do that. And, it not only weighs less, the Allison retarder also costs less than electric retarders.

Braking Through ResistanceAllison’s hydraulic retarder is basically a vaned �ywheel in the transmission housing. �e transmis-sion directs oil into the retarder housing to absorb the vehicle’s energy through the drive sha�. �e absorbed energy is converted to heat and dissipated through the vehicle’s cooling system. Resistance to the �ywheel, augmented by stators on the inside of the housing, delivers braking power to the driving wheels. More oil in the housing means stronger braking. And since there’s no mechanical friction or wear to shock the drivetrain, you’ll have better control of maintenance costs, too.

Activating The RetarderOnce the system is turned on via a switch on the dash, the Allison retarder engages automatically whenever the driver li�s o� the accelerator or when the brake pedal is applied. Simple, seamless, silent and safe.

Integrated controls eliminate body control boxes on the dash, enhancing the cross-cab view.

Larger Ergonomic Cab Chassis Body IntegrationWe’ve added 18 cubic feet to the ACX cab environment. The position of the cab and the floor height were lowered and ingress/egress was significantly improved. Tilt steering wheel is standard on single-drive Xpeditors. Each precision instrument and control is ergonomically designed.

Autocar provides a complete system, rather than merely a body mounted on a chassis. Xpeditor ACXs arrive at body companies with all components in the right place, holes already drilled for the customer’s body and body controls integrated into the Xpeditor’s dash.

Functional StylingThe ACX front grill has been updated to be more functional and to provide better aesthetics. The windshield wipers have been extended and repositioned underneath the windshield to give a wider sweep pattern for better coverage while maintain-ing the vertical park feature.

Corrosion ProtectionAll Xpeditor cabs receive maximum corrosion protection. Our state-of- the-art, 18-stage, cathodic epoxy E-Dip system uses an iron phosphate pre-treatment. After the E-Dip process, pre-paint caulk is applied to external and internal seams prior to the finish coat.

Tough Durable CabThe ACX cab is not only larger, it's also stronger. The complete cab and doors are a fully welded, two- sided galvanized steel structure providing unmatched strength. Fiberglass, composite or aluminum have no place in the Xpeditor cab and doors.

Factory InstalledAutocar offers a full range of auxiliary axle installation, drop frame installation and soon natural gas fuel system installation, direct from the factory. We simplify customi- zation – order the options and Autocar installs them right on-line.

Frame StrengthThe Xpeditor frame's 14.5” drop section rail provides 4.2 million RBM – more than any competitor – just below the arm torque tube, which is the most critical section on a front loader, or directly below the automated arm mount on an automated side loader.

Delivering On The Three E’sThe Autocar E3 hybrid-drive Class 8 refuse truck, featuring Parker Hannifin’s innovative RunWise® system, delivers on all its major promises: Environmentally, Efficiently and Economically.

EnvironmentallyIn operation, the Autocar E3 has produced fuel savings of 28% to 42%. Assuming a reduction of 35%, a hauler with an average annual fuel consumption of 9,800 gallons per vehicle would reduce CO2 emissions by 76,146 lbs, or 38 tons per year with each Autocar E3 in service. Using EPA figures, this is the equivalent of removing 6.7 average cars from the road. Other environmental benefits include: Brake dust reduction of hundreds of pounds per year. Noise reduction from lower operating RPM’s and lower power demands.

EfficientlyIn the efficient hydrostatic drive employed in the Autocar-Parker E3/RunWise® system the engine is not directly coupled to the road wheels. This allows the E3 to match engine output to actual power demands, which increases fuel efficiency. The reduced engine loads also contribute to a lower cooling requirement, so less horsepower is lost to fan drives. Autocar E3 field trials have shown efficiency and productivity gains of 3% to 5%, without changing collection methods. By optimizing equipment and routes, further gains are obtainable.

EconomicallyIn addition to the major savings generated by the fuel, emission and efficiency advances mentioned above, the Autocar E3 offers a range of significant cost benefits, including: Reduced brake wear lowers maintenance costs and vehicle downtime. Improved drivability allows operators to move between collection points quickly and efficiently. Faster acceleration, smoother braking and less noise contribute reduced operator fatigue and increased productivity.

By reducing fuel comsumption, a hauler would reduce CO2

emissions by 76,146 lbs, or 38 tons per year with each Autocar E3 in service. Using EPA figures, this is the equivalent of removing 6.7 average cars from the road, or planting 1,586 trees per unit.

Our natural gas chassis will soon be available with factory installed CNG and LNG fuel storage and delivery systems. These complete natural gas chassis systems include engine, fuel tanks, methane detection and fuel system – all assembled on our line with the quality workmanship you expect from Autocar.

Cost and efficiency benefitsBacked by the experience of installing well over 2,000 natural gas engines – with and without fuel storage and delivery systems – we have streamlined and simplified delivery of environmentally compli-ant natural gas systems. A complete system, factory installed from Autocar, eliminates previous OEM-body builder complications such as spec'ing, transporting and high shipping costs. Modification costs to add fuel storage and delivery systems after the chassis has been built are now a thing of the past.

Autocar quality The Autocar Xpeditor built with the Cummins-Westport ISLG engine never requires an auxiliary cooler – even when you choose a front mount pump. Autocar uses the finest stainless steel fittings and couplings and mounts the critical fuel filter in the ideal location for easy access. Each fuel system is pressure tested and leaves the factory after a 10-step quality assurance verification. CNG systems leave with a partial fill, allowing easy movement of the chassis at the body builder’s factory. LNG systems are not filled with fuel, but are leak tested to assure a positive cool down process and fill.
