XXX SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 24, 2021
Maestro, ¡que recobre la vista! (Mc 10, 46-52). El evangelio de hoy presenta la curación del ciego Bartimeo de Jericó, episodio que cierra una larga instrucción de Jesús a sus discípulos (Mc 8, 22 a 10, 52). Al principio de esta instrucción, Marcos coloca la curación del ciego anónimo (Mc 8, 22-26). Ahora al final, comunica la curación del ciego de Jericó. Como se verá, las dos curaciones son el símbolo de lo que sucedía entre Jesús y sus discípulos. Indican el proceso y le objetivo del lento aprendizaje de los discípulos. Describen el punto de partida (el ciego anónimo) y el punto de llegada (el ciego Bartimeo) de la instrucción de Jesús a sus discípulos y a todos nosotros. El grito del pobre. Finalmente, después de una larga caminata, Jesús y sus discípulos llegan a Jericó, última parada antes de llegar a Jerusalén, el ciego Bartimeo está sentado a la vera del camino. No puede participar en la procesión que acompaña a Jesús. Pero grita, invocando la ayuda del Señor: “Hijo de David, ten piedad de mí.” La expresión “Hijo de David” era el titulo más común que la gente daba al Mesías (Mt 21, 9; cf, Mc 11, 9). Pero este título no agradaba mucho a Jesús. El llego a cuestionar y a criticar la costumbre de los doctores de la ley que ensenaban a la gente diciendo el Mesías es el Hijo de David (Mc 12, 35-37). Reacción de la gente ante el grito del pobre. El grito del pobre es incómodo, no gusta. Los que van en la procesión con Jesús intentan hacerle callar. Pero “el gritaba todavía más fuerte.” También hoy el grito del pobre es incómodo. Hoy son millones los que gritan: emigrantes, presos, hambrientos, enfermos, perseguidos, gente sin trabajo, sin dinero, sin casa, sin techo, sin tierra, gente que no recibirán jamás un signo de amor. Gritos silenciosos que entran en las casas, en las iglesias, en las ciudades, en las organizaciones mundiales. Lo escucha solo aquel que abre los ojos para observar lo que sucede en el mundo. Pero son muchos los que han dejado de escuchar. Se han acostumbrado. Otros intentan silenciar los gritos, como sucedió con el ciego de Jericó. Pero no consiguen silenciar el grito del pobre. Dios lo escucha. Conversación de Jesús con el ciego y su curación. Bartimeo había invocado a Jesús scon expresiones no del todo correctas porque el titulo Hijo de David” no le gustaba mucho a Jesús. Pero Bartimeo tiene más fe en Jesús que en las ideas y títulos sobre Jesús. No hacia los demás. no ve las exigencias como Pedro. Bartimeo sabe dar su vida aceptando a Jesús sin imponerle condiciones. Bartimeo sigue a Jesús y sube con El a Jerusalén hacia el Calvario. Se convierte en un discípulo modelos para Pedro y para nosotros: ¡Creer más en Jesús que en nuestras ideas de Jesús!
Master, I want to see! (Mk 10, 46-52). Today's Gospel presents the healing of the blind Bartimaeus of Jericho, an episode that closes a long instruction from Jesus to his disciples (Mk 8, 22 to 10, 52). At the beginning of this instruction, Mark places the healing of the anonymous blind man (Mk 8, 22-26). Now at the end, communicate the healing of the blind man from Jericho. As will be seen, the two healings are the symbol of what was happening between Jesus and his disciples. They indicate the process and the objective of the slow learning of the disciples. They describe the starting point (the anonymous blind man) and the arrival point (the blind Bartimaeus) of Jesus' instruction to his disciples and to all of us. The cry of the poor. Finally, after a long walk, Jesus and his disciples arrive at Jericho, the last stop before reaching Jerusalem, the blind Bartimaeus is sitting by the side of the road. He cannot participate in the procession that accompanies Jesus. But he cries out, invoking the Lord's help: "Son of David, have pity on me." The expression "Son of David" was the most common title that people gave to the Messiah (Mt 21, 9; cf, Mk 11, 9). But this title did not please Jesus very much. He came to question and criticized the custom of the doctors of the law who taught people saying the Messiah is the Son of David (Mk 12, 35-37). Reaction of the people to the cry of the poor. The cry of the poor is uncomfortable, it is not welcomed. Those who go in the procession with Jesus try to silence him. But "he screamed even louder." Also, today the cry of the poor is uncomfortable. Today there are millions who scream: emigrants, prisoners, hungry, sick, persecuted, people without jobs, without money, without homes, without land, people who will never receive a sign of love. Silent screams that enter houses, churches, cities, world organizations. It is heard only by those who open their eyes to observe what is happening in the world. But there are many who have stopped listening. They have gotten used to it. Others try to silence the screams, as happened with blind of Jericho. But they cannot silence the cry of the poor. God hears you. Conversation of Jesus with the blind man and his healing. Bartimaeus had invoked Jesus with expressions that were not quite correct because the title "Son of David" was not liked by Jesus very much. But Bartimaeus has more faith in Jesus than in ideas and titles about Jesus. Not towards others. He doesn’t see demands like Peter. Bartimaeus knows how to give his life by accepting Jesus without imposing conditions on him. Bartimaeus follows Jesus and goes up with Him to Jerusalem. He becomes a model disciple for Peter and for us: Believing more in Jesus than in our ideas of Jesus!

También podemos dejarnos interpela por la escena del evangelio en el sentido de como tratamos a los ciegos que están a la vera del camino, buscando, gritando su deseo de ver. Hay muchas personas, jóvenes y mayores, que no encuentran sentido a la vida y que pueden dirigirse a nosotros, los cristianos, por si les podemos dar una respuesta a sus preguntas. ¿Somos de los que se molestan por esos gritos, porque siempre resulta incómodo el que puede o el que formula preguntas? ¿O nos acercamos a la persona y la conducimos a Jesús, diciéndole amablemente: “Animo, levántate, que te llama? ¿Cuál es el comportamiento del ciego Bartimeo? ¿Cuál es para nosotros la lección de la curación del ciego Bartimeo? Señor Jesús, con la curación de Bartimeo nos ensenas que quien escucha tu Palabra y cree que tú eres el hijo de Dios camina en la luz. Sana nuestra ceguera para contemplar tu rostro. Amen.

We can also allow ourselves to be challenged by the scene of the Gospel in the sense of how we treat the blind who are on the side of the road, searching, shouting their desire to see. There are many people, young and old, who do not find meaning in life and who can turn to us Christians, in case we can give them an answer to their questions. Are we one of those who are bothered by their screams, because it is always uncomfortable to hear their pead or questions? Or do we approach the person and lead them to Jesus, saying gently: “Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you ? What is the behavior of the blind Bartimaeus? What is the lesson for us in the healing of blind Bartimaeus? Lord Jesus, with the healing of Bartimaeus you teach us that whoever hears your Word and believes that you are the son of God walks in the light. Heal our blindness to contemplate your face. Amen.

San Judas Tadeo
San Judas, conocido como Tadeo, era hermano de Santiago el Menor y pariente de Jesús. Los escritores antiguos nos dicen que predicó el Evangelio en Judea, Samaria, Idumaea, Siria, Mesopotamia y Libia. Según Eusebio, regresó a Jerusalén en el año 62 y asistió en la elección de su hermano, San Simeón, como obispo de Jerusalén.
Es autor de una epístola (carta) a las Iglesias de Oriente, en particular a los judíos conversos, dirigida contra las herejías de los simonias, nicolaítas y gnósticos. Se dice que este Apóstol sufrió el martirio en Armenia, que entonces estaba sujeta a Persia. La conversión final de la nación armenia al cristianismo no tuvo lugar hasta el siglo III d.C.
San Judas fue quien le preguntó a Jesús en la Última Cena por qué no se manifestaría al mundo entero después de Su resurrección. Poco más se sabe de su vida, pero la leyenda afirma que visitó Beirut y Edesa.

St. Jude Thaddaeus
St. Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Lesser, and a relative of Jesus. Ancient writers tell us that he preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, Idumaea, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Lybia. According to Eusebius, he returned to Jerusalem in the year 62 and assisted at the election of his brother, St. Simeon, as Bishop of Jerusalem.
He is an author of an epistle (letter) to the Churches of the East, in particular the Jewish converts, directed against the heresies of the Simonians, Nicolaites, and Gnostics. This Apostle is said to have suffered martyrdom in Armenia, which was then subject to Persia. The final conversion of the Armenian nation to Christianity did not take place until the third century A.D.
St. Jude was the one who asked Jesus at the Last Supper why He would not manifest Himself to the whole world after His resurrection. Little else is known of his life, but legend claims that he visited Beirut and Edessa.
He was beaten to death with a club, then beheaded post-mortem in 1st century Persia. His relics reside at Saint Peter's in Rome, at Rheims, and at Toulouse, France.
Saint Jude Thaddeus is not the same person as Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Our Lord and despaired because of his great sin and lack of trust in God's mercy.
St. Jude Thaddeus is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them.
Therefore, he is the patron of desperate situations, forgotten causes, hospital workers, hospitals, impossible causes, lost causes, and the diocese of Saint Petersburg, Florida. He is represented as bearded man holding an oar, a boat, boat hook, a club, an axe or a book. Nearly every image of him depicts him wearing a medallion with a profile of Jesus. He usually has a small flame above his head, and he often carries a pen.

St. Simon the Zealot

Here, he was supposedly martyred by being cut in half with a saw, a tool he is often depicted with. However, the 4th-century St. Basil the Great says he died in Edessa, peacefully.

In the month of October, we are praying the rosary, asking for the intercession of our Blessed Mother, every Saturday in the parish chapel at 6:30 am. We hope you can join us in our prayers for the community and our families through the intercession of our Blessed Mother.
The Prayer group is meeting every Friday after the celebration of the Eucharist (7:00 pm). We hope that you can join us starting with the celebration of the Eucharist followed by an hour of praise, prayer and hearing the Word of God with the goal of being better disciples of the Lord. We hope you can join us every Friday, starting with the
celebration of the Eucharist at 7:00 pm. The couples group extends the invitation to all couples in the community to participate of this pastoral group every Tuesday after the 7:00 pm mass. In this group we have the opportunity to see our marriage from a more Christian perspective for the glory of God. Always keeping Christ as the center of our marriage and family. We hope you can join us every Tuesday after the 7:00 pm mass.
