Young Democrats of America Employment Opportunity Position: Young Democrats of Illinois, Chapter Creation Fellow Hours: minimum of 20 hours per week Salary: $500 Monthly Stipend and up to $100 in travel expenses Job Description: Chapter Creation Fellows’ primary responsibility is to create new chapters in strategic areas of Illinois – such that have electoral consequences, focus on areas of ethnic diversity, and specific targeted downstate areas where the state needs to grow its Young Democrats membership. Once a chapter is created, the Fellow will identify and train leaders to ensure that they can maintain the new chapter and achieve the desired goals. Fellows will work very independently on this project with the direction of the YDI Leader and the YDA Chapter Manager. Chapter Creation Fellows will have specific recruitment goals and set timeline in which to achieve them. The Chapter Creation Fellow will be responsible for the following: Researching and finding local targets within downstate counties in which to start chapters Making contacts and building relationships to help the effort Training and motivating newly recruited volunteers and interested Young Democrats to start a chapter Providing guidelines and suggestions to sustain the Young Democrats chapter The Chapter Creation Fellow reports directly to the YDI Leader and the YDA Chapter Manager.
