Position: Young Democrats of Illinois, Chapter Creation Fellow
Hours: minimum of 20 hours per week
Salary: $500 Monthly Stipend and up to $100 in travel expenses
Job Description: Chapter Creation Fellows’ primary responsibility is to create newchapters in strategic areas of Illinois – such that have electoral consequences, focuson areas of ethnic diversity, and specific targeted downstate areas where the stateneeds to grow its Young Democrats membership. Once a chapter is created, theFellow will identify and train leaders to ensure that they can maintain the new chapterand achieve the desired goals. Fellows will work very independently on this projectwith the direction of the YDI Leader and the YDA Chapter Manager. Chapter CreationFellows will have specific recruitment goals and set timeline in which to achievethem.
The Chapter Creation Fellow will be responsible for the following:
Researching and finding local targets within downstate counties in which to startchapters
Making contacts and building relationships to help the effort
Training and motivating newly recruited volunteers and interested Young Democratsto start a chapter
Providing guidelines and suggestions to sustain the Young Democrats chapter
The Chapter Creation Fellow reports directly to the YDI Leader and the YDA ChapterManager.
