Our topic next term is AFRICA!

There are lots to different projects and ideas to choose from to get

you interested into our new topic but don’t feel like you have to do

If you do choose to do any of the activities - I would love to see

RESEARCH

Could you find out about facts about Africa?

Could you find out about what the children who live there

wear?

What about what they might eat?

What do they do for fun?

What animals live in Africa?

Are there any famous African people?

Could you write me some facts and draw me some pictures

about what you find out?

African inspired artwork ideas

African silhouettes

• Children paint or colour an A4 sheet of paper using the colours

red, orange and yellow.

• Start with red at the top then fade into orange then fade into

yellow.

• Once paint has dried (if using) children cut out black

silhouettes/outlines of various African animals and trees and

stick them onto their background.

• Alternatively, children could draw the outlines of the

animals/trees in black and colour in.

Traditional African fabric patterns

• Children have a go at drawing/designing their own traditional

African fabric patterns. The patterns could be drawn out in

pencil first then painted or coloured in using felt tips/colouring

pencils.

bold colours, simplistic designs, inspired by his

surroundings. Children can have a go at drawing their own

Tingatinga style painting – could be done with paints, felt tips

or colouring pencils.

• Children to design their own African mask out of

cardboard/paper plates, plastic, bottle lids, paper, foil etc.
