Grandparents’ Day Everyone has fond memories of being at their Nan and Pop’s place – it’s where you’d go to get the kind of love that only a grandparent can give. This year, Grandparents’ Day will celebrate our shared memories of spending time with our grandparents.

Niagara Park Public School is recognising Grandparents’ Day on Friday 25 October, 2019 with a grandparents visit to classrooms from 9:15am followed by a morning tea at 9:45am. At 10:15am our dance groups and Choir will provide entertainment and then our grandparents are invited to join their grandchildren at 10:55am for recess.

Please RSVP by Wednesday 23 October, 2019 for catering purposes.

Crossing the Road Please ensure that when you pick your children up or drop them off to school, that you are crossing them safely and using the pedestrian crossing. This week there was an incident where parents and students weren't using the pedestrian crossing and were at risk of being hit by a car.

Have a great weekend.

TELL THEM FROM ME (TTFM) PARENT SURVEYS The “Tell Them From Me” surveys provide school Principals and school leaders with insight into student engagement and wellbeing and the impact of teaching practices at their school from the perspective of students, teachers and parents. Data collected from the survey responses are compiled into reports which provide information that can help schools in their annual planning and reporting activities, by helping to identify emerging issues and plan for improvement.

This year, we invited students from Years 4 and 6, along with teachers and parents, to participate in the “Tell Them from Me” (TTFM) Surveys. We would like parents/carers to complete the Parent Survey, which is completed on-line. The survey will close on Friday 25 October 2019. This survey is an excellent vehicle through which our school community can provide us with feedback to inform our future directions. Additional information about all the surveys can be found at: www.cese.nsw.gov.au. All surveys are completely anonymous. If you wish to complete the Parent Survey, please follow the link: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/5vszh Nicole Pattison Deputy Principal (Rel.)

LIBRARY NEWS Book Fair and Book Parade Our Book Fair is open all of next week! Time: Every day from 8:00am to 9:00am and from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. (Our Fair on the Wednesday will be open before and after the parade, as well as in the afternoon).

Book Parade: Wednesday 18 September at 9:30am in the bottom COLA outside the hall. Parents and carers are welcome to stay and have recess with their children afterwards.

Children are asked to come to school dressed in a book character costume OR a costume that fits with the theme 'Reading gives us superpowers'. There are no prizes available for best costume, but there are prizes for our colouring in competition, and 'guess how many' competition (winners of these competitions will be announced at the parade).

Payment/Book Fair orders: Eftpos is available at the Fair if required. Payments can also be made for items on wish lists via online payment at: www.carnivalfairs.com.au/payment . PLEASE NOTE: Payment to the online system does not count as an order. Please return the wish lists to the Library with the receipt number written on them to receive your books. Students visiting the Fair in the mornings and afternoons, must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Students whose parents are not able to visit the Book Fair with them, will be given the opportunity to purchase from the Book Fair at lunchtime on any day during the Fair. Re-orders: No child needs to miss out! All books at the Fair are able to be ordered in (please go to the last copy table at the Fair to order). Carnival are going to try their very best to get these orders to students before the holidays. Please do not take the last copy of books (marked with a last copy slip) at the Fair as these copies are kept for other parents to view what they are ordering. We also have a large selection of books (others in a series etc) that can be ordered in that are not in the Fair, please ask at the desk in you are interested in other titles. Artwork/craft: Come on in to see your child's artwork/craft on the walls. Funds for our Library: We earn approximately 30% back to spend on books for our Library! Thanks for your support.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs Frost at: [email protected]. We are looking forward to see you all at our Fair/Parade.

On Thursday 26th September the SRC will be running a Jersey Day to raise awareness about organ donation. Students are asked to wear any team sport tops or clothes in their favourite team colours. This is an awareness day so no donations are needed. Students will learn about organ donation and the importance of it. If you would like more information about why the day started you can visit: https://www.jerseyday.com.au/ Sallyanne Probert SRC Coordinator
