2017 YKK ASIA GROUP KIDS FOOTBALL CLINICS (AKFC)-INDONESIA AND INDIA-

YKK ASIA GROUP’s flagship regional CSR event took place in Indonesia and India over the course of two weekends in October and November. The continuation of the successful partnership with Real Madrid Foundation (RMF) delivered professional clinics to local coaches and fun-filled engaging football clinics to underprivileged children between the ages of 8-15 years old. All participating children received a custom YKK/Real Madrid Foundation football jersey along with a complete kit which included a cap, shorts, socks, football boots, a drawstring bag and a certificate of participation. YKK subsequently donated the football equipment used for the event to the participants’ communities following the event. It is hoped that this donation will provide a sense of continuity for the YKK CSR program and encourage children to live a healthy sporting lifestyle.

Fastening Experience has been offering programs such as facility tours, factory tours and workshop programs for the benefit of children and people in design-related fields. Till date, there has been more than 59000 visitors to Fastening Experience since 2006.

The aim of YKK Zipper Indonesia planting day concept this year is to grow seed trees such as trembesi and also providing recharging wells and biopori, which are metre-deep pits dug into soil and filled with with compost material. These pits also helps to preserve water and prevent flooding, on of the natural disasters often faced in Indonesia.

YKK Zipper Indonesia's support for non-profit foundations started since 2006. For year 2017, Yayasan Nur Abadi was chosen and most of the students there are hearing impaired. The difficulty in communication between the teachers and students did not stop them from having fun throughout. Amazing!

In 2011, YKK Zipper Indonesia’s Cibitung factory started a soccer club for kids. With this, they followed the tournament "Serumpun Cup” in 2015 and received training from an Indonesia National player as well. They also took part in Soccer expo festival in Bung Karno soccer station.

The objective of this activity was to support the health of mothers and children by supplying healthy food such as porridge and milk for them. Medical check up were also given to mothers, expecting mothers, babies and kids below 5 years old.

During Ramadan (Month of fasting), YKK Zipper Indonesia held a communal meal event which involved breakfasting with 100 orphans. This 3 hour event was open to orphans living near YKK factory. Besides the meal, the orphans had fun and enjoyed each other's company throughout the event. Thank you YKK for this meaningful session.

Donation to Prime Minister Relief Fund2

Since Frequency Type

This year’s tree Planting activity was held at Sheen Caaf Pre-Cadet & High School, Beximco Road, Chakrabarti (near DEPZ) on June 19 2017. Approx 100 trees were planted around the school premises. Managing Director Mr. Takashi Miyata and Factory Manager Mr. Kazumichi Ochiai and other YKK representatives were also present during the event.

Heavy rainfall on top of huge amount of water flowing down from Meghalaya hills in India have led to the damage of vast areas of croplands in Haors and low-lying areas in the northeast. Flood started on 28th March affecting six districts (Sylhet, Moulavibazar, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Netrokona and Kishoreganj) in the north east region. Rising water level destroyed huge areas of boro rice crops, approx 160,170 hectors. BEPZA made a request for all investors to donate in Prime Minister relief fund for flood victims.

YKK Korea participated in an environmental improvement program in Pyeongteak City. This award winning project started from Jan 2016 and was featured in the papers. It occurs once every 3 months, with the purpose of creating and maintaining a clean and beautiful city. 'Guerrilla Gardening' activities includes cleaning up the roadside along the factory areas and creating a 'guerrilla' garden.

Jin-wi River cleaning activity was held in September 2017. This river is located near the YKK factory and 20 staff were involved. Everyone assisted to pick up as much trash and other debris both along the banks of the river as well as in the water itself.

120 boxes of Kimchi were made for this year's donation program. They were distributed to 200 families which included the eldery, orphans etc. 30 volunteers from YKK PT factory helped out in this meaningful event and it lasted for about 2 days.

YKK Taiwan continued the sponsoring of scholarships for the Dept. of Fashion Design of Shih Chien University in order to support the cultivation of future fashion designers. It is also a channel to bring brand awareness to attract potential upcoming designers.

YKK Taiwan has been organising tree planting activities at elementary schools in the factory’s vicinity since 2008. In 2017, with the completion of the third factory in Chung Li, they decided to hold the activity outside the factory instead. 75 trees were planted in total, with 4 staff involved. It was a great balance of economic development and environmental conservation.
