Oldtown Scottsdale is noted for housing some of the best known theatres, museums and performance stages in the state–all within walking distance.

However much of the area’s cultural character comes

from the lesser-known playhouses, art galleries and

concert clubs. to experience this underground movement

firsthand, check out the Scottsdale art Walk every

thursday from 7 - 9 pm - a nighttime showing of

emerging contemporary work with an affordable price

tag. during this event on (you guessed it) thursday, even

bartenders, baristas and hair stylists become curators

by showcasing local artwork on their business’ walls.

to sample the local music scene stop by Furio on e. Second Street or Next lounge &

Nightclub on e. Fifth avenue nearly any night of the week. and while you are there, do

check out the critics’ pick: Scottsdale center for the Performing arts performance of the

off Broadway Hit “My First time” and the Scottsdale desert Stage theatre’s performances

of “the Sound of Music”; and world - class art shows at the Scottsdale Museum of

contemporary art and the Faust Gallery. they are worthy of all that national recognition.
