Cal Rodgers, Howard Hughes, Greg Lawrence and a few others didn't tell anyone they were deaf because they probably would not have been able to fly.

You Can Fly

People who are Deaf have distinct advantages flying and in many other areas of life.

The advantages are in situational awareness, navigation, instrument flying and weather analysis

due to spatial thinking and mental pictures.

Of course it is better to communicate on a CTAF radio and we are well advised to do so. However, the system of standard traffic patterns and altitudes was developed before radio communications (WWI) and has worked quite well for over 90 years.

What is a Glider?FAR 1.1 Glider means a heavier-than-air aircraft, that is supported in flight by the dynamic reaction of the air against its lifting surfaces and whose free flight does not depend principally on an engine.

Putting a motor on a glider does not change it’s

category to airplane.

Putting a motor on a glider

makes it a self launched glider.

In other words, a glider captures and utilizes the

natural energy in the atmosphere

to fly.

Every airplane glides, only gliders soar.

A glider captures and utilizes the natural energy in the atmosphere

Page 11: You Can Fly

What is Soaring?Only the highest bird forms, Eagles, Hawks, Condors and a few others soar. That may be true of people also. Gliding is descending while soaring is using natural lift to climb and cruise. “Using natural lift” is aligning yourself with the flow of energy in the universe and seems (feels) like a very, very good thing to do.

Soaring is what we are evolving into. When we have more FREEDOM, we can fly for the pleasure and feeling of being at home, in the air.

Then, we no longer have to find an excuse or a destination. The waves, cloud streets, slopes, convergence, darkest parts of the clouds and birds are the destination.

Soaring is what we are evolving into.

Orville Wright, Oct. 191110 years after the ‘01 glider, almost 8 years after the first powered flight, Orville Wright evolved to soaring. 9 minutes, 45 seconds of slope soaring was the world record for a long time.

Soaring is FREEDOM

BE - DO - HAVEIn order to HAVE the ability to go (DO flying) home in the air, we must BE an aviator.

Many people think that “if I HAVE something, I can then DO something and BE happy.”

WrongFirst: BEcome an aviator. Hang out at the airport, fly-ins, EAA Chapter.

Next: DO the learning and flying.

Then: You will HAVE a pilot’s certificate and the ability to fly home.

Here is How to FlyInstructors teach how to fly. LOA

Go fly and be aware of your favorite feeling. Hold that feeling as much as you can and then hold it more and more. Whatever your special feeling is when you fly – for me it is that moment when the wheels leave the ground. That feeling will attract more of its self. It is the Law of Attraction.
