(NOT EVEN YOU)
It is often assumed that drug abusers lack morals or willpower and that they could stop using drugs simply by choosing to change their behavior. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease, and quitting takes more than good intentions or a strong will. You may think it’s okay to take pills just to “party” since they’re prescribed for people anyway, but don’t fool yourself–these drugs are highly addictive. And, if heroin is involved, you
are going down a one-way street. In fact, because drugs change the brain in ways that foster compulsive drug abuse, quitting is diffi cult, even for those who are ready to do so. Drugs contain chemicals that tap into the brain’s communication system and disrupt the way nerve cells normally send, receive, and process information. You won’t have any control over the situation.

Heroin is a highly addictive drug derived from morphine. It affects the brain’s pleasure systems and interferes with the brain’s ability to perceive pain. It can be injected or smoked in a cigarette or pipe.
Some of these drugs are opioids, or narcotics, which can enhance, slow down, or alter brain activity. They come as multi-colored tablets and capsules; some can be in liquid form. They are swallowed and may be injected when abused. Common drugs are Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin, Mebaral, Quaaludes, Xanax and Valium, Nembutal, Codeine, OxyContin, Percocet, and Vicodin.
