What is wBOA? wBOA’s mission is to connect women who own independent businesses who are members of the Wake Forest Chamber. These top-level business executives share common goals, concerns and issues and meet to support and encourage professional and personal growth.

Are you a potential wBOA member? You must ...• Be a current member of the Wake Forest Chamber.• Serve as president or partner by controlling 50% or more ownership in the business.• Carry the financial responsibility and risk to your business’ bottom line and if not involved in making the decisions, the company would no longer exist.• Not be a consultant or representative of a larger national company.

Many small business owners have thought about hiring employees, but may not want the expense or hassle that goes along with it. Staffing firms can provide assistance in finding both temporary and permanent employees. Cindy Hammond will share the benefits of using a company like hers to bring it the help you need to get work done. She has been the Branch Manager for Qualified Staffing Solutions for the past 22 years. As a human resource professional, she has been able to provide strategic workforce solutions for various companies as well as successfully provide employment opportunities for people. Congratulations to Becky Parsons with Edward Jones Investments for being named the Chamber’s Ambassador of the Month for June! Becky has only been an Ambassador for six months, but in that time has gotten fully immersed in her Ambassador duties, forging relationships with her assigned buddies and attending and helping out at Chamber functions. Becky says she joined the Ambassador Program of the Chamber in order to make a difference. “Helping people is very important to me and I have always loved what the Chamber does so it seemed like the best of both worlds,” Becky said. She added that being a part of the Chamber has given her access to many valuable tools that have enabled her to grow her business. “The staff is always available to help me, and networking with its members has been a great referral tool and a ton of fun,” she said. Becky has been a Wake Forest resident for 33 years. With her husband Dean, she has raised three children. Her family has a small horse farm on the east side of town. Raising three children, she’s been active in many PTA groups and the Junior Women’s’ Club. She’s also an active church member with a strong belief in Jesus Christ. She is currently also an active member of the Kiwanis club. “I’ve always subscribed to the belief that hard work will get you far in life, no matter the job,” Becky said. She has held jobs with the Department of the Interior as a member of the renovation team that worked on restoring the double Keepers Quarter at the Hatteras Lighthouse. She built custom cabinets for over 25 years. And she has been with Edward Jones for 10 years. Becky recently opened a new office at Gateway Commons in Wake Forest. She says that being a financial advisor allows her to pursue one of her greatest passions—helping others. Congratulations, Becky, and thanks for your commitment and service tot he Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce!
