OurmainresponsetosupportagricultureintheRegion is a spatial one – to support agricultural productivitybyidentifyingregionallyimportantagriculturallands, andensuringthattheseareashaveappropriatezonesorcontrolsappliedinLocalPlans.

InJanuary2014,theNSWGovernmentreleasedtheBiophysicalStrategicAgriculturalLand(BSAL)mapsfortheStatewhichidentifieslandwithhighqualitysoils and water resources capable of sustaining high levelsofproductivity.WhiletheBSALmappingidentifiesagriculturallandofsignificancetotheState,thereisanopportunitytomapagriculturallandsthatarecapableofmakinganimportantcontributionata regionalscale.
