Welcome & Thanks!

Your Palace, Your Place! We have long been using this tagline and find that its simple message truly pays tribute to the

way our patrons feel about the Palace. We pride ourselves on the positive feedback we receive

from those long-time and first-time customers who, upon entering

the Palace, have an immediate connection with the theater and

begin establishing their own lifelong memories and special moments.

The Board and staff actively work to create a welcoming environment, a friendly

atmosphere and a performance experience that rivals all others. Those are just a few of

the reasons that the Palace continues to be something personal, unique and special to so

many of you.

We dedicate this Annual Report to you, our loyal supporters – who through selfless philanthropy invest

in us annually for the betterment of your Palace. You appreciate the value and importance of a vital performing

arts center, proudly calling the Palace, your place.

Whether you enjoyed the toe-tapping choreography of 42nd Street or the infectious rhythm of the Temps and Tops, the headline performances of the 2015-2016 season confirmed that the Palace

served as your place for shows and more.

Food Channel celebrity Robert Irvine flexed his cooking muscle for a live theater audience, radio icon and host Garrison Keillor sold out the house with his farewell tour of A Prairie Home

Companion, and the Beatles reunited on the Palace stage in London’s West End production and tribute show entitled Let It Be.

With over 175 events and activities, including Trivia nights, dance parties and our signature Jazz series, more than 125,000 patrons experienced the Palace and left the theater

wanting more.

Imagine gliding across the Palace stage on a pair of skates or joyfully accepting your high school diploma in front of a packed house. Both serve as memorable experiences and both

were just a few of the ways that the Palace showcased itself in 2015-2016, as your place for family and kids.

The Palace consistently strives to engage audiences young and old, while developing long lasting relationships built upon positive experiences and extraordinary memories.

Where today’s youth may be more focused on being social online, the Palace, via live entertainment, provides educational connections and family centric programming as an alternative from the virtual world.

Your Place for

Learning & Community

Engagement in our community is an ever present principle and a guiding

force of the Palace Theater’s mission. Establishing creative ways to entertain and

educate our youth, collaborating with various organizations and agencies for the betterment of

the community, and making impactful connections with other not-for-profits to advance their causes,

is how we reinforce the Palace as your place for learning and community.

The Palace hosted a number of give-back charitable events for agencies such as the United Way of Greater

Waterbury and the Greater Waterbury Campership Fund. We supported autism efforts through Light It Up Blue and worked

collaboratively to increase breast cancer awareness in conjunction with Are You Dense?

Additionally, our after-school educational program engaged over 50 students for a 6-week period and illustrated how the socially relevant themes of the

Broadway musical Ragtime still remain timely, and sadly, relevant today.

As a venue that originally opened in 1922 and celebrated its grand reopening in 2004, we truly appreciate the depth and breadth of the Palace’s storied history. In an effort to celebrate the past

and foster the creation of future memories, the Palace has launched a monthly tour program. Patrons revel in the historic lore of the theater, familiarize themselves with the architectural

significance of the venue and learn about the many artists that once graced the Palace stage.

History and memories are made every day at the Palace through its varied programming, private receptions and life affirming events such as weddings. Whether it’s a bride

and groom exchanging their vows, a milestone birthday celebration or a family reunion, the Palace prides itself on serving as the preferred location for those

special life moments.
