Fancy seeing me here.

That’s right, Here’s your Red Nose Day Fundraising Kit!But before you tear ahead to the fun stuff, I hope you’ll indulge me a few quick words to talk about ‘Making Your Laugh Matter’. What’s that all about? Well, Red Nose Day was founded on a belief in the power of laughter to change lives. And thanks to the extraordinary energy, generosity and ingenuity of people like you, we’ve been able to harness that power and make a real difference both here in the UK and across Africa. But there’s still work to be done, which means there’s still laughter to be had. And that’s where you come in. It doesn’t matter what you do. And it doesn’t matter if you raise five quid or five thousand. What matters is that you’re up for it. You want to make a difference. And with your help – on Friday March 24 – we’ll make every laugh matter. So thank you, good luck and most importantly, have fun. Cheers

Sir Lenny Henry

PS. One last thing! For the first time, we’ve created a place where you, and other lovely fundraisers like you, can help shape what we do at Comic Relief. It’s our new online community, Comic Matters, and we’d love you to be a part of it. Find out more at rednoseday.com/comicmatters

A few fundraising ideas, from mild to wild...

DRESS UP OR DRESS DOWN.As simple as a splash of red or as full-on as a whole day of fancy dress. Try these on for size:

A bit of red. Think red shoes, lipstick, jewellery, tie, hairband or even just a good old-fashioned Red Nose. Donate to take part.

A lot of red. Get sponsored to pull on a red onesie. Or, if you’re feeling particularly brave, a red mankini might get the funds flowing…

All red everything. Sponsor the boss to kit up, hold a fancy dress competition at work and pay a donation – this is code red, people.

Top tipSet a sponsorship target

and let your sponsors choose your outfit for the

day once it’s reached. Remember – it’s all for

a good cause!

BAKE A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.Any kind of cake related fundraising always goes down a treat. Here are some serving suggestions:

Cakey. Make some cakes then sell them. Simple, effective and brings a ready supply of compliments about your baking prowess.

Cakier. Run a bake sale at work and get everyone to bake cakes and sell them. More cake, more fun, more dough raised. See what we did there?

Cakiest. Host a baking contest, complete with challenges and baking innuendos. FYI: We’re always on call for spoon licking duties, too…

Top tip

Thanks to Maltesers, we’ve whipped up a

special Bake Sale Kit. Get your hot little oven

GET THEPARTYSTARTED.Red Nose Day is the perfect excuse to host a little (or not so little) get together. Give one of these a bash:

A little bash. Have some friends over to sing, dance, laugh, carry on and just generally have a great time. But strictly no fun until everyone’s donated.

A bigger bash. Q: Who loves a quiz? A: Everyone! Pick some teams, charge an entry fee and get stuck in. Smartphone cheats pay a hefty fine, obvs.

A biggerest bash. Sort a venue, flog some tickets and have a proper shindig. Think: mass karaoke, danceathon, talent show or comedy/band night.

Top tipIt’s thirsty work all this

‘enjoying yourself’. So why not fill your fundraising

total to the brim by selling refreshments

at your event.

CHALLENGEYOURSELFSILLY.From mildly inconvenient to downright unwise, here are some daring suggestions – should you choose to accept them:

Respect. Give something up and get sponsored for it. Nothing too hard (eg. breathing) – more like social media for a week or talking for a day.

Impressive. Anything that requires a bit more commitment: eg. getting sponsored to wax your legs/chest, dye your hair or walk to work for the week.

You did what?!? Get sponsored to climb something, do something for 24 hours, shave your head, shave a stranger’s head – fundraising folklore awaits!

Handy tipsYou’re welcome.

• Match giving – ask your employer if they will match your fundraising total, pound for pound.

• Sell refreshments – putting on an event? Sell treats and refreshments to raise even more money and remember, if you buy products that are donating to Comic Relief that’s a double whammy of goodness!

• Collect loose change – label up an old jam jar and put it at the end of your desk to gather everyone’s loose change.

• Get the boss on board - you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.

• Sell Red Noses – there are nine to collect! Buy them at Sainsbury’s, Oxfam or at rednoseday.com/shop (where you can get boxes of ‘em to sell at your event).

Money raised Lives changed

Dress up

£185

Netbiz, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, got into costume for Red Nose Day 2015. After a little trouble settling on a theme, this colourful cast raised a truly heroic total.

Netbiz’s dress up day could allow five isolated UK mums suffering from postnatal depression to attend a group therapy session and help them on the road to recovery.

Bake£108

EBG Property in Sleaford staged an almighty bake sale for Red Nose Day 2015. The whole team came through with the goods and raised an incredibly sweet total.

The proceeds of EBG’s bake sale could help ten homeless young people here in the UK, by providing three days worth of nutritious hot meals.

Money raised Lives changed

Party

£221

Bournemouth Student group Six Event Ltd held a dance marathon in 2015. To get things moving they promoted Comic Relief projects to show people how they can make a difference.

Six Event’s moves could provide eight orphaned young people in Rwanda with all the equipment and seeds they need to grow high quality tomatoes and generate a sustainable income.

Challenge£1600

For 50 straight days in 2015, Sharron Darnell from Cheshire wore nothing but wellies – attracting donations (and some funny looks) on her way to a truly astonishing total.

Sharron’s fundraising could help ten Kenyan children escape hazardous work and get a secondary education by covering their fees, books and stationery for a whole year.

The Winner:

How it works 1. For a suggested £2 per entry, write your name and how long you think it’ll take to get the job done (in mins/secs) in one of the provided spaces.

2. Visit rednoseday.com/winner from 3pm on Friday 24th March to see how long it actually takes Josh to complete the challenge.

3. The person with the closest time keeps half the cash and the rest goes to Comic Relief to help change lives. If the winning time is exactly between two guesses, the lower of the two wins.

Paying in Money raised can be paid in online at rednoseday.com/payin or sent in by cheque, made payable to ‘Red Nose Day 2017 (Fundraise)’, to Red Nose Day, EY, PO Box 51543, London SE1 2UG.
